I was tempted to put this in "well designed", but then, I do not know if that is true, and I am unable to test it. I wonder what the target buying demographics are:

The cone.

Mmmmm - BSOD

I remember it all too well - XP hasn't given me one of those in day to day operations for a while (knocks on wood), thankfully.

Thanks fuldog - I'm sure there are more than a few people here who will love seeing another M$ flop.

Hmmm, never heard about an X-Box that went into BlueScreen before.

But then, I don't own an X-Box.

My XP blue-screens all the time since I upped to SP2 and using Firefox.

Doesn't happen if I use IE for some reason. If I revert to SP1, all my problems magically go away.

Moral of the story? SP2 blows galactic-sized Beta Quadrant Space Goats.

Amen.

I don't know. I've done some customizing of cars and they didn't just stop working while I was driving them.

Never happens to me at all, I just rebuilt mine, added XP SP2 and always use Firefox. Could it be hardware related?

Might only be of relevance to Londoners, and definitely NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK (unless you have earphones), and if you're offended by swearing then don't follow the link, but otherwise, it's a bloody brilliant spoof of The Jam's Going Underground.

Hey Dot,

I recently low-level formatted my drive and started from scratch. First installed XP-SP1, then all my drivers and software just to get the system running. I held off getting SP2 since I have problems with my internet connection and browsers whenever I installed it. Everything worked fine (I was running the pre-release candidate for Firefox).

Then I caved and upgraded to SP2, updated all my drivers, and installed Firefox. Every once in a while, the system dives and resets.

I did a memory chip test because sometimes that will be the problem but found nothing. I tried testing different settings for my sound card (it's a Creative Audigy 5.1 card) and that didn't seem to be the problem.

Windows, when it crashes and comes back, says that its a fatal error with one of my drivers. Unfortunately, it's not exactly forthcoming with WHAT drivers it's referring to. I've tried looking into some kind of logging software that keeps a record of what was access when. I tried looking at the system log that Windows produces but they are not specific or very helpful.

Cheers.

Blessed art thou Win2k, for thou hast been 'round for an age, thine bugs caught and dealt with.

I actually had XP, but got a copy of 2k and never really looked back.

Man, does that ever take me back to my days living in London. Thanks.

The fact that I have no remedy for all the sorrows of the world is no reason for my accepting yours. It simply supports the strong probability that yours is a fake.

Amen, brother!

I've been running XP (SP1) for a while, and I found it isn't playing nice with my games (Unreal Tournament - GOTY and 2004) and my ATI vid card, so I'm going back to Win2K ASAP. It was always much more stable for me, and didn't eat a quarter of my gig of RAM just to run.

Hey, I got idea (said some crazy flash game builder)... let's combine Lunar Lander with a mouse transportation service!

(Use arrow keys to control rocket, hover over mouse to pick up, don't break his little glass ball--he does poorly in vacuum!)
