I thought Cory Arcangel's cats playing Schoenberg's Drei Klavierstücke was good (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3), but that was before I heard Mindaugas Piecaitis and Nora The Piano Cat's Catcerto for piano and full orchestra .

I can't help wondering if that piano had been dosed with catnip, though.

best,
Chris H

I found this website today searching around for RAF info. I saw that Der Baader-Meinhof Complex movie and now for some reason I'm temporarily obsessed with them. Like that time in 1985 that I couldn't stop singing "Like a Virgin" and got the shit beat out of me during gym class.

The DARPA Network Challenge to commemorate the anniversary of ARPAnet. The challenge is to be the first to submit the geographic coordinates of 10 red weather balloons tethered somewhere in the United States this Saturday.

Are any WGBers playing?

Yeah, that HEMA animation has been around for years, and it is still great. Good shop, too... It's like a less minimalistic Muji.

UK Borders goes into administration: Customer Club e-mail, received today.

As a registered customer of Borders, you were probably very disappointed to hear the business has gone into administration and may be closing down. We wanted to let you know that although you can't buy online anymore, there are some great offers available in your nearest store with up to 50% off many items. If you're not sure where your nearest store is just click here to find out and visit the store as soon as possible to pick up some fantastic bargains!

This is sad. I like the Borders experince and always spend an hour in store whever i'm in Swansea or Cardiff.

Wacky "scientist" says death doesn't exist.

This is a trip, and shows how bad some people are at discerning science from mythology.

It is from my uncles FB. Below are the comments.

quote:
Irma Kaye Sawyer
Fabulous article Marco! In my world, this has been factual all of my life as my "dead" relatives have been communicating with me for years. Einstein was right in that in the future the Quantum physics folks will be perceived as mystics. The future is now.

And I've been a mystic for years...;D

Yep, hear dat bro!

Yeah and it's taken science this long to validate what a lot of us already know. DUH right?!

yeah... that is really a silly, and sentimental, way to look at the theory of the multiverse. The idea that an infinite number of universes mean that there is another 'you' walking around someplace doesn't mean that you and that person are the same. When my friend dies I don't take solace if he has a twin brother after all; my friend is still dead and gone.

"Robert Lanza, MD is considered one of the leading scientists in the world. He is the author of "Biocentrism," a book that lays out his theory of everything. "

He has a theory of everything? When the principal in the movie Real Genius said that at least you could tell it was a joke to make him look like a pompous ass. ... Ver más...

"Consider an experiment that was recently published in the journal Science showing that scientists could retroactively change something that had happened in the past."

If it happened in the past it couldn't be anything but retroactive? This is a doctor, and author, writing this crap?

Turns out a lot of what he said is crap according to this guy.

Still trying to figure out why a stem cell researcher is lecturing on quantum physics. Looks like he has barely published anything other than his books. Sorry Marco but crappy sources are a pet peeve of mine.

Einstein spent his last years working on a theory of everything as well. Most mainstream scientists scoffed at that as well. Same for Columbus when ALL the scientists KNEW the earth was flat!

Funny how time changes fundamental truths. When actually, we just change what we accept as Truth.

Damn, Jason--guess you really took the wind out of MY sails! Big Grin However, from personal experience I can tell you: death doesn't exist, and you couldn't die if you wanted to!

The difference of course is that this isn't science. You can't test it, nor can you measure it. It fails the test as science for the same reasons that 'intelligent design' fails. Einstein was recognized in life as the world's leading scientist unlike this guy, who just wrote that on his own website. Reall,y he did write that himself and then quoted himself in the bio at the end of his article.
