So about a million and a half years ago, I interviewed this up-and-coming writer name of Gibson for a would-be stylebible rag called SPIN.
It wasn't quite the interview I would have wanted (fault entirely mine), and the editor hung it with the too-cute-by-half title of "New Romancer," but I sure would like to get ahold of it and archive it on v-2.org if anyone has a copy floating around anywhere. What say you? Anybody reading SPIN in those days, between the Henry Rollins columns and encomia to Madonna? |

No copies of it in your porfolio?:-)
Are you the guy who wrote that book on Japan expanded from that wicked article from Details? The article with the awsome B&W photos and the call out "I don't know my future past next weekend..etc" that was appropriated by Bjork in Violently Happy off her debut,Debut?... That article was so cool, I bought the hardcover and then loaned it and its gone... Great stuff |

Sigh, no, that's the short story. The interview would have been '88. (I have always believed that it was the first interview, or mention of any note, with Our Gibson in a major national glossy, but I could be wrong.)
The book mentioned above must certainly be Karl Taro GreenFELD's "Speed Tribes," a passing magnificent work, but not, alas, mine. |
