Went and saw White Noise today, it wasn't too bad, not the best movie, the best movie is not out yet but I have seen the preview,

Yes they are remaking Kindergarten Cop!

They are calling it The Pacifier and it stars Vin Diesel!!!

I can't hardly wait!

C'mon, you can't tell me Vin's gonna do it better than Arnie Smile He'll at least have to say "It's not a tumor" once, for comparison's sake - or "I'm a cop, you idiot!!".

Still, it'll be more entertaining than watching The Will on CBS, I'm sure.

Vin could teach the kiddies how to install a NOS kit.

Plus, he'd walk around proclaiming "I LIVE FOR THIS SHIT."

I can't see how this movie could possibly fail.

Pics from the upcoming A Scanner Darkly movie:

Looks like Mr. Linkletter and his crew have mastered the graphic novel look.

I don't think those are cel-shaded 3D graphics, if that's what you meant. I think they are actually drawings (done on a computer, for sure). They're not perfect enough for cel-shadings, and far more detailed than most cel-shaded graphics.

On the other hand if you were just saying they have that cel-shady look, then oh yeah, I agree. I think it works pretty well.

Most 3D cel-shading sucks tremendous ass. Watch Appleseed, the Amazing Spiderman TV-series (3d), or any other studio that tries to let the computer decide on the cel-shaded look and you will see what I mean. Nothing beats the hand painted look that cel-animation has. Bugs Bunny and co. still hold up today because of it.

I think the Linkletter look is a combination of digitization, reducing the image to areas of tone, and then layering vector illustration on top. The final look is an amazing moving comic book, that he pioneered in Waking World, only pushed even further.

Is it me or does the second image look like Winona Ryder?

Well, I haven't seen you, but unless you're a fetching young woman, I'd say it probably looks more like Winona.

winona ryder plays Donna: A Scanner Darkly

The technique is called rotoscoping. The movie is shot on DV and then imported into a computer, where the footage is animated by hand to look like traditional cel shaded animation. Waking Life used proprietary software invented by the guy who came up with Photoshop, I believe they were calling this program Rotoshop. Bets are good the same team is working on this one. The same technique can be achieved with After Effects or Photoshop combined with any NLE that will output in the Filmstrip file format.

Agreed, Faustus. Waking Life is an incredible movie for anyone who thinks.

When I say "thinks", I mean "broods". Wink

The beauty of Waking Life is that you can start and stop it and any chapter and it still holds. Each chapter is nicely, self-contained look at the whole.

Saw Magnolia finally and still don't get why people are losing gism over it. It's not all that.

Brilliant.

Let us know how that looks. Was it worth it; what he did to himself?
I wouldn't have done that in a million years.

Watch all the extras who appear near the end of the Band of Brothers series. The people in that concentration camp were incredibly amazing to do THAT to themselves.

I still don't think Charlize Theron is the best choice for Aeon Flux, but whatever...Here she is.

A real actress wouldn't have a "no stunt-clause" in her contract for this role!

From my recollection of Aeon Flux, Ms Theron appears overdressed.

She looks more like Irma Vep.

Well I am not too hot on the idea of a live-action rendition of a stylized animated show.

I mean a lot of the appeal WAS the animated weirdness. There is nothing "weird" about Charlize Theron.

Her hair isn't even cool like it is in the series!
