Thanks, anyway, it's nice to be in the same time zone as you guys for a change Big Grin

Their brain waves will horribly corrupt you and you'll find yourself wanting you nice neighbor to the south to start easing into post-imperial socialism rather than screaming through its growing pains by invading other places.

Who wants that?

I have a GSM quadband that seems to be sending/receiving texts in a useful way. Actual speech will be prohibitively expensive though.

Holy, what a day. I've made it to Brugge, where Wanderu are starting up the barbecue for 4th of July goodness!

The day's adventure is chronicled on my blog. Which I broke yesterday when attempting to prepare for photos...never mind, it will be better again one day.

I read it all on the blog-- commiserations :-) but as someone who went east to Sweden from Copenhagen Airport instead of west to a charming little Danish island (and I do speak all the languages involved) I am telling you there are days like that---

Bar-B-Q! You were smart to go see an American today :-)
Me, I worked, then watched Wimbledon on TV. Not the same glamour as hanging out with Wanderu in Bruges!

I trust that all the Belgian machinations are done and the rest of my intra-European travels will be smooth sailing, because I'm starting to lose faith in the chemins de fer and hoteliers.

Thanks for the text last night, Wanderu, but my blog explains that walking away from Werchter became a better idea than sticking to that plan. Reading the setlist this morning, it's not a big loss--a good setlist but nothing unusual or especially spectacular, and yes I'm a jaded cow.

I'm in Lille, had a nice family dinner with my friend last night, even including a two year old with whose French skills were on par with my own (nice!) and slept like the DEAD for 8 hours. Today, coffee and croissant, sunny day so far, forecast for drizzle but not heavy rain, and it's all looking good!

Lithos, my peeps back home eat horse from time to time, but it's one thing I absolutely cannot do, any more than I could eat my cats. They tell me I'm missing something great, and I say I'm OK with that as I sincerely doubt I could keep it down if I did eat it.

No, you must eat the horse before the horse eats you.

That's how it works.

Main Square Festival Arras...The Wombats, The Dø, Sigur Rós, Radiohead...Sigur Rós played several songs I could actually name if not spell: Hoppipola, Hafsol, and Untitled 8, as well as two new ones (the la la la one and another). Excellent set.

Radiohead played as much from OK Computer as In Rainbows, I think, and we like it like that although I begin to doubt I'll ever hear Let Down live. Two encores at a festival set! woo!

Traffic jam from hell on the way out, it's 0300 and I'm going to sleep for a year or two, but wanted to let any interested parties know that today was a good day Big Grin

Hurray for Sigur Ros.

Now, can anyone explain how to pronounce their name to me? I have looked it up and am still confused.

As near as I could tell is was something like Seer Roze.

I have a friend whose ex-wife spoke Icelandic, and *he* used to say it "Seegur Ros" (long I, hard g, "gur" being more like "gr", and "Ros" having the "o" of "rose" but a soft s (like "hiss").

I have not checked this against Wikipedia's .ogg file, however.

See, that's what I thought but I found on a site once a pronunciation that sounded totally different to me. Or read so.

There may have been an explanation related to their making up of words.

In Kamilaroi, the name means "Pretentious Crap."

Fun fact.
