My Penguin parade,

all of their new Penguin Classics covers. As you're already aware, they follow a handsome Penguin tuxedo theme,

Classics for classics.

All of Frank's covers; you've seen the immortal Conan twenty thousand times, here's (one of the many) Tarzans!

and out of my affinity for antiquarian books ("newest" to oldest)

eldest of this post: the Lindau Gospels, 9th century CE,

next, just the covers, mind you

and dig Gaetano's exultant Deco,

add

its reprisal isn't horrendous

I'm no Tolkien fan -- you may remember this smartened cover series, made to look Modern Library / Penguinish. I like the original ideas. Exotic heraldry, not perfunctory composites.

More scifi -- Schoenherr first,

then

colin and I could go on and on about Chip Kidd, work quoted a few posts up as "Michael Crichton: The Lost World".

If this were a magazine cover thread . . . oh no, not enough pages in the world.
