Never ask for a kebab in Greece (or at least that's what they kept telling Rick Stein). Greeks eat Gyros. Oh! I'm salivating at the thought of the vegetable gyros this guy used to make for us in Matala. (Strangely enough I was just looking at a picture of my friends eating those very gyros in 1993, this morning.)

Yep, those are solar heaters. But what made an impression on me is the fact that the most common thing you will find on a turkish roof isn't tv antennas but satellite dishes. I guess a huge country like that, it's only natural.

First morning we had the tour guide edition. Drove to Derinkuyu to visit one of the underground cities. My pics turned all crap from that place. I hate using flash and the lighting was limited.

antique vendors....

and a tea house

You can't not appreciate the local version of tea. I loved that chai from the first try I had of it.

Whoa. Very nice imagery. And I see there's a lot great stuff to come. And the MOM cap look suits you, Striv, even it it's a bit creepy : )

That Victrola... did it seem legit, or some fake antique?

And yes, those eyes are quite powerful. Remind me of somebody else's.

Yep! that's exactly the title I have for that picture!!!

I wouldn't even presume to identify a real victrola from a fake one though.

The Göreme Open Air Museum. The entire area is filled with churches of the first christianic era curved right out of the rock. Everytime a group of people tried to hide from persecution or the Iconoclastic period, they went there.

You think Gaudi visited there as a young student? those rock buildings have his melted-ice-cream look.

Striv, is that a tear or a bead of sweat on the little girl's face? If it's a tear, I'm slain.
