There are a lot of free books out there on the internet, free movies and free music. Finding it, however, isn't always easy.
Sooo...let's help each other!

Here's some of what I've discovered and enjoyed

Cory Doctorow's fiction
A lot of you have probably read these already, but his books deserve to be mentioned. Start out with Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom and go wherever from there.

A Mountain Goats show
I hope I'm linking to the correct show here..
I love the Mountain Goats (actually just one guy, John Darnielle) but it's not the kind of music you usually just stumble across, so for those of you who haven't been exposed to his simple, but effective music and amazing lyrics, get this.

I, Cactus
Cute electronic music.

Think brain wants to sleep now, so I'll leave it at this for now, myeh!

Pause, big repository of music videos. Many real works of art in there.

manybooks.net, lots of free, public domain e-books in several PDA formats.

The Moment Factory, strange collection of video snippets. From puzzling, simple works from the 'jumpy, unfocused, blurry' school to several visually pleasing, interesting collages.

Listen live to KEXP (top left corner).

Or listen to their archived audio, including streams of radio shows and live in-studio performances by some of the best artists around.

Hope this doesn't come across as shameful self-promotion (changed from "self-plugging," which sounds obscene), but y'all are welcome to any of my MP3's you want.

Note: the track listing can be found here, so you can listen to them in order, which is the best way, and please note that the "Big Game Death Match" MP3 is a live recording from a very, very BAD show (private performance for Safari Club International) and is online for ironic self-deprecation only.

All kinds of off-copyright literature may be found at Bartleby. I love the indexed, searchable King James Bible.

Internet Archive's Live Music Archive is good stuff.

Remember kids, the internet loves you. Even though sometimes it touches you in the bad place.

for really high quality music videos (480x256 pixels?) and movietrailers use the itms. no need to buy anything, and it works even if your country doesnt have a itms.

and if you have a mac, a simple applescript lets you save the vids to your hard drive.

mmm, shynola.

Since y'all are way better read in SF than I am, I'm surprised that no one's mentioned the Baen Free Library. I've discovered a few writers I like out of that place.
