Not sure if this has been done before, but we have the 'what are you eating?' thread, so...

Went to the bottle shop this evening because I have a 178 page doctoral thesis I have to read tonight for an oral exam[1] tomorrow, and beer always helps. Looked longingly at the Hoegaarden, but in the end picked up 2 sixpacks of 355 ml cans of Bowen Island lager for a couple bucks less than I would have paid for one sixpack of 330 ml Hoegaardens...

The Bowen Island is actually decent enough, for not much over a buck a can, and any minute now I'll wander off and read the thesis...

So, what are you 'Now Drinking'?

[1] I always feel self-conscious using this term 'oral' in this context (hey, at least I'm not an alumnus of Oral Roberts University!), but it's the term people use. It means 5 academics or so tag-team the doctoral candidate and ask questions about the thesis and the research for a couple of hours. It's the final hoop to be jumped before the secret handshakes, the robes and the obscene initiation rituals into the Grand High Order of Academics (Old Rite).

And besides, we had the whole 'ABC' discussion in 'What are you eating?', which was totally off topic. Unacceptable!

Lavazza, raw sugar. You, madame, are a woman of taste.

I don't know any espresso blends roasted in Sydney - I assume you have some? I know Melbourne's got grinders and Brissie's got Merlo (which we serve at work...god bless).

to be honest, I can't name any off the top of my head, lithos.

in lismore i used to love caddies coffee. yum. actually a lot of the north coast coffees are lovely, mountain top i think it's called and so many others. maybe night cap too?

mmmm coffee.

Heh, mob roast.

"Lemme make you a latte you can't refuse."

Trying desperately now to remember the brand from Byron Bay.

pretty often it goes something like:

coffee: 2-3 mugs
water: .5-2L
Barq's root beer or Coke: 2-4 cans

sleep, repeat

occasionally i will attend a party with free alcoholic beverages; if i decide to partake i tend to lose count after 8 longnecks; wake up with a splitting headache in the morning, drink some water, thank my Irish ancestors and continue about my business...

A few days this summer, when we were shoring-up the camp from the underside, eight longnecks would have passed for a light breakfast.

Tepid tap water.

I wish I had a nice tall glass of icy cold lemon flavored seltzer water. Oh, how I love them frisky bubbles.

Coffee, fruit juice, tea. Can't remember the last time I had a beer, but if I had my choice it would be a crisp Melbourne Bitter. Resch's Pilsener, if needs must.

Right now I fancy a sparkling Ribena.

Those days are long behind me since a) i find alcohol far too boring to bother developing that kind of tolerance b) i have enough alcoholics in my family to know better and c) i like having my liver.
