Well, it's new to me..

..bought a gallon of unpasteurized, no-preservative apple cider today at the farmer's market.

Now that it's cold enough, I'll leave it up on the neighbors porch for a couple of weeks - opening it up ocassionally so the gasses building up don't explode the container.

Cheap, easy (if slightly dangerous) hard cider Smile

I used to do this back in the day when I lived on an urban commune in Virginia - it hurts your stomach - but it's got a nice kick, and stiffens you up against the cold, which seems sort of secondary at that point Smile

I don't drink that often, but I like to have drink in the house for when I want to. I currently have about 5 litres of Jack Daniels (prehaps more), one of which is a Silver Select bottle worth about £200 which I picked up at Hong Kong airport for about £40. I have a bottle of Blavod frozen to the bottom of the fridge, the previously mentioned Welsh Scotch and a few bottles of Spitfire ale. We polished off the remains of various bottles of rum and vodka last Friday.

I've never understood why americans call apple juice cider. I expect it leads to some confusion for american tourists in the UK.

I went to a restaurant yesterday night.

I ordered a White Russian.
The waitress looked at me as if I had just chnated a satanic incantation.
She had no idea what a White Russian was.
I told her the barman would know.
She was embarrassed and confused.

So I asked for a Mojito instead.

And there she told me :
"Since you seem to know lots about cocktails,
I really advise you against our Mojito...
It all depends on who is making it."

Instead, she advised me to try another rum-based cocktail.
It was okay...

All the places I've been that knew how to prepare a White Russian filled one or more of the following categories:

- In the continental USA.
- A cocktail bar in a big US hotel chain (Hilton, Sheraton...)
- Designed by Starck.

And at home, where we have two bottles of Kahlúa right now.

But I remember having a White Russian at the Club Med World, when we met in Paris (after we saw Immortel).

And this is where I had dinner yesterday.

Has this cocktail been banned, or what?

A vodka expert I know would say :
"Never mix vodka with anything."

So, yes, it should be banned, because it alters the perfect taste of this heavenly drink.

It tastes like long chain monomers.

(this monomers reference is not even funny, but the WGB is the only place where I can use it...)

I should kill you for this, but your friends and wife would be sad afterwards.

An oxymoron is funny once, twice if you are dealing with people unaware of its moronity.

I know where you live, so stop doing it. Please.

While I was hiding, I dug a long tunnel leading away from the hole.

The tunnel is a bit tricky.
And... there's a minotaur lurking in the dark corners.

Homeopathic Cocktails

I've been having some real cravings for mixed drinks. Since I
1) normally don't drink alcohol
2) am pregnant

having a regular cocktail is probably not a good ide.

Thus I think I will invent the homeopathic cocktail, where an eyedropper instead of a shot glass is used.

For example:
Homeopathic Gin & Tonic
Add two drops gin to glass of tonic on the rocks serve with slice of lime.

Now I just need some tonic water and an eyedropper.

Ah, breakfast. Time for a nice, healthy glass of soy.

Immersed in a mug of coffee the size of your head.
