I have sympathy with Lithos, as the women in the next room are extremely, loudly, giggly. Think Tom Hulce in Amadeus. Everyone should be happy but I wish they didn't have to express it quite this often in quite this loud way, given the thinness of the walls (which didn't seem thin until this pair checked in).

I don't condone stabbings though. Merely laughing back at them, louder, so they understand that they're not alone in the world after all.

Off to Bruges anon. Have packed; don't quite know how my luggage has expanded quite so much in so little time, but the facts are before me.

I thought it was going to be another cloudy/rainy day, but the sun is shining I am becoming accustomed to hearing Dutch, but don't pretend that it won't be a relief to be entering a country where at least I can make myself understood in an official language. (Mind you these Amsterdamers are extremely fluent in English, and probably five other languages besides. The really funny bit was yesterday at the tram stop, these two older Italian ladies asking me (in Italian, which I can understand if not speak particularly) how they should buy tram tickets. Me trying to dredge up enough Italian (or Fran-Span-Italiano, my usual means of communication with such) to describe that they could buy from the driver. I thought. Them finally understanding that I was not an Amsterdamer! I think they just made a bee-line for the blonde hair and hoped.)
