My mom's family is from Okinawa. They love natto.

My dad's family is from Hokkaido. They hate natto.

In the fall here in Mountain View, an old Japanese couple set up a stand at the farmer's market selling home grown yama imo. They're only there for 2 or 3 weeks. My wife counts the days to their return.

I bet the home grown is much better than the ones at the grocery store.

Yes, both my little girls like natto, and yama imo too. In fact, if we put natto on their rice we have to tell them to eat the rice too, or they'll eat the natto only.

Today I was disappointed we didn't have any natto at breakfast time, so I used shio konbu instead.

I think liking natto might be more common as you move south, but don't quote me on that.

You don't like Thierry Henry? I must admit, having been underachievers the last few tournaments it's good to see the Greek team finally getting a bit of a good run for once.

It's because my weekend had been rooined-- ROOOINED! By bad plumbing. Instead of going outside, enjoying peak Edmonton summer weather, I am at home waiting for the pipes to clear.
