hey folks, whaddaya'll like drinkin'?

i like a variety myself of different beers AND liquor.

i am partial to Stella Artois and Heinekin beers to name a small few,
rye&cokes, gin&tonic which i lovingly refer to as pinetrees cuz'o the taste, vodka&tonic w/lime or vodka/cranberry which i am drinking right now, and last but never least, a good stiff white russian.

try this, what is known in my town as a 'Martian Urine Sample'
in a half litre wine carafe with ice:
3/4 oz each melon liq.,amaretto,vodka,rum.
add equal parts pineapple juice, 7up, lemon or lime.
add blue curacao to color deep green.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Smile

Beer - Cascade Premium Light, or one of the beers made by the Grand Ridge Brewery folk.

Wine - where to begin? There are any number of great Australian or NZ wines that hit the spot nicely. If I could get them here without paying a fortune, there are quite a few Californian merlots I'd find habit-forming.

Spirits - a double measure of Laphroiag will do nicely, thank you.

Mixed drinks - not really into them. Very occasionally a scotch & soda or gin & tonic in hot weather. Maybe a Cosmopolitan or Margarita. That's about it.

I like Beaujolais, some Chiantis, Valpollicella, Prosecco, Champagne. White Rioja, some Spanish rosé wines. Light stuff, all. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy a big classic, only I can't afford the age they need.

And a single Manhattan every now and then. Margeritas in the summer.

Beer: the real Budweiser, from the Czech Republic. Can't spell it, though - Budvar?

I like Laphroig (spelling again..) too, and a Raki/Arak, but I get too drunk from pure spirits and try to stop myself for the most.

Where the hell do you get Arak from? is that the white stuff? I had drunk like half a cold glass of it in Istanbul once.. it was sitting in my friend's fridge (I thought it was a cold glass of water [it hadn't been mixed yet] and I was totally dehydrated)... it's funny how it turns from colorless to flourescent white (almost like a neon tube) when you add water to it..

I could not drink anything that changes color dramatically with the addition of water... that's a bad sign about what it will do to you... It should be classified along with Absinthe under If You're Bored and Would Like To Try Something Awful...

why ruin a good things? i can drink water, milk, juice, coke or whatever without any alcohol in it. and i drink - straight, of course - scotch, vodka, gin, rum... whatever. but 1-40 is a no-no zone for me. some marques have - for whatever reason - drinks at 38% alcohol. usually i recognize those by that watery taste. ok, medical ethanol at it's 96% is a bit rough, but still quite drinkable with raw minced meat Smile dunno what it does to my liver, but last seven and some years i've taken my medicine - 200 ml of 40% alcohol a day, 500 ml when partying. with a pack of cigs a day, of course Smile

early to bed and early to rise makes a man stupid and blind in the eyes

I have two drinking modes, depending on if I am at home, or out.

Home:

- Abbey beers, specially Chimay on all its colours.
- Weizen beers. Only with food or snacks. Or Weisswurst if I can get it.
- Single malts. Word is out among my work contacts, so I usually get two-three bottles for Christmas. Last year's, Balvenie 21 years, Laphroaig 15 years and Lagavulin Distiller's choice. I drink some four bottles per year, so I only have to buy one to keep the level of the collection. This year, a normal Tallisker.
- Wine. Being a meat person, I buy more red than wine. Most Spanish, but I am partial to Coteaux de Layon sweet white (Loire region) for desserts and pate de foie. Better than Sauterne. I only drink champagne at weddings and Christmas.
- Mixed drinks. Years ago I liked to mix drinks and try new combinations. Now I usually just prepare Complete Bloody Marys before eating and White Russians afterwards.

When going out I usually prefer german lagers (or german-style lagers from anywhere in the world). Coffee with alcohol, many varieties, and Bourbon-cola.

As you can see from the whisky consumption, I do not drink so much. It is more a matter of variety.

I have to agree with charmakarmacat that you can't go wrong with vodka - Stolichania being the best
so White Russians in honour of the Dude, though getting hole of the Kalhuna can be tricky
vodka and cranberry juice, vodka and grapefruit juice, vodka and milk and of course vodka and Red Bull.
beers - Stella Artois, though its got a nasty chemical kick you feel the next morning, the Italian beer Nastro Assuro, Guiness, Grolsch, Kronerburg 1664 and Red Stripe.
And a nice bottle of single-malt whisky for these cold winter evenings.

they have the internet on computers now?

XX (used to be above Bass)
Sapporo (on a hot summer day)
But I'll drink any beer offered

Wild Turkey 101
Maker's Mark
with coke or straight up
Mountain Dew

Makers Mark on the rocks is my absolute drink of choice, though Wild Turkey will do in a pinch.

If for some crazy reason I want to drink something other than bourbon, I like Stella Artois, and someone just turned me onto the deliciousness of black 'n tans.

Much to my wife's dismay, I don't know a goddamn thing about wine.

When I feel pretentious, I like a gin gimlet.

Single barrel Bourbon, Blantons, Bookers...whatever. Straight up, as God intended it.

Makers in a pinch, apologies FaustusRedux.
