I'm heading off to London on a short trip next week. I'm mostly going to be doing a course, which will take up about three days. For the other three I'm doing the usual touristy things like the Natural History Museum, Imperial War Museum, Tower of London (just finished Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle!) and the Tate modern on the day I'm leaving (late in the afternoon).

Does anyone have any suggestions of cheap places to eat around these locations and around Regent's Park (the course is at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists)?

Does anyone have any advice on how long the above tourist attractions will take?

Ta Much.

Any time fr us London WGBers?! Krad works fairly near regents park.. so we could do an early dinner around there easily... or as easy as anything is thee days *lol*

As for the tourst stuff.. I can sa the tower I only spent a couple of hours at.. Imperial War Museum a goood 3 or 4.. But Natural History has been full days every time I've been and theres still bits I've not seen.. and tate I've always picked a section to spend a few hours at each time..

You do, by law, have to go to Wagamama's *lol* Cafe at the tate modern is pretty good.. not much alse around there, but a 10 minute walk towards the eye takes you to royal festival hall, which has some good eating places.. incuding canteen round the back of it which was a hit at a previous meat..
I don't know the area of the museums well enough.. but regents college is pretty near oxford circus & area s full of good eating places, nd also baker st and marylebone (if you are veggie eat and two veg is meant to be great.. Unfortunately Rasa Express only does take away, and during the day as their food is lush!! Hmm ... cant think of anythingelse off the top of my head I'm afraid!
But its also close to primrose hill for some gibson-eque sight seeing if weather is nice!!

Unfortunately RCOG is the side of Regent PArk I don't really know.

Drummond Street, closer to Euston is good for fairly cheap thalis - Diwana and Ravi Shankar are the best there. The Indian YMCA on Fitzroy Square is good for a cheap lunch, I've never been there in the evening though.

Can't do better than the K's local knowledge but there's a nice family (not chain) pasta place on the corner of Thurloe Street looking down Harrington Gardens - just along from S.Ken station & handy for the nat hist. I take the family in when we're down, but haven't been for a year or so.

Sorry, can't remember the name but it's here-ish
