On dvd Banlieue 13 aka B13
Brainless with great action scenes like only the french can do.... or I should say Luc Besson.
Impressive fights and very nice on foot chase scenes. This was fun.

Absolutely terrific ensemble work in Alien. Everyone was wonderful in that film. Yes, brilliant pacing, back when movies didn't substitute non-stop action for plot.

Think I'll try to get out and see the new Harry Potter tomorrow morning. I'm really looking forward to it.

It's interesting - the first Predator movie was a great ensemble piece, too.*

It's a shame Alien v Predator was such a poor effort on nearly all levels.

*I love Don McAlpine's cinematography on that flick - all the stalking-through-the-jungle stuff.

When people start talking about movies as "franchises", you've gotta fear the worst.

Gotta agree. Threshold is definitely staying consistent. Definitely didn't suck, but who was Calloway (aka The Muscle with Obscure Backstory) sleeping with at the beginning?

I think this and Bones have me hooked on the cast chemistry more than with the scripts.

Glad to hear Threshold seemed to go well - looking forward to watching that myself in the morning

You damn spoilers, you two! *shakes fist*

Just kidding - I pretty much knew I'd see some info on the show when I saw ED's was the latest post.

Finished watching Season 3 of Trailer Park Boys - damn, too funny. Makes a great combo with Sopranos and The Shield - fun to watch what all of those scammers try to get up to.

Since the fiance's outta town, I thought I'd rent a bunch of chick flicks to get my fill before he comes back. I'm kind like that.

Just watched "Shall We Dance", the Richard Gere version, not the Japanese one. I don't think they have the Japanese one at the local video store anyway. I liked it enough. I love films with dance. I used to do musical theater in high school and I loved it. I also used to do a lot of Swing. When I lived in California, I frequented clubs all the time. I'd stumble into a class the next morning and try not to look trashed.

I never realized how hard the waltz was. I mean, to get that kind of fluid, graceful movement, you have to really be in control. *le sigh* I want to dance now.

I'd agree with you: I think the third movie is definitely the best so far, and it's a real pity they didn't get Cuaran back... but this one goes pretty well, and is definitely far better than the dreadful first two. The Weasley twins are apparently just too pretty for my daughters' taste...

Oh, hi Bravus. I was rewriting my review in order to solicit yours. C'mon, I know you've seen it, 'Bohemian Dad of the Year.' (I thought that was extremely cool. I have vivid memories of my Dad taking Bro and me to a midnight movie or two.)

Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last night. It was pretty good; the critics are saying it's the best of the bunch, but I think I liked the last one better. But this one was pretty darn good. The whole opening sequence/event was silly exciting, after that the movie's pace felt relatively stately.

The music could have been stronger, it wasn't as memorable as that in the last films.

I wish I hadn't known who was playing Voldemort going in, it would have been fun to guess. I think I could have, just based on his sulky, pretty mouth.

I like Mark Williams' work, the actor who plays Ron's dad, so much in this role. He is so connected and immediate, such a pleasure to watch. And speaking of a pleasure to watch, I sure love looking at those Weasley twins! Dang, they grew up good. And there's two of them! [Wicked, evil, naughty, naughty thoughts]

A smidge more Goblet of Fire reviewage (recycled photons):

Still, a good time was had by all, at least in our family. Cassie even gave it pretty high marks on what was removed and changed compared to the book - unlike the movie critics, it seems as though that's the primary criterion for kids.

 <extends arm>
May I have the pleasure?
Once had to learn to Waltz, and quickstep for a show I was in (I was 18 so that makes it about 10 years ago). So so hard. So much fun. The main reason we moved so fluidly was that the guys had to wear tight, flat fronted, high waisted trews. Any sudden or jerky movements would have led to a life of infertility.

My husband brought home 'Saw' the first one. He had already seen it and I never am fazed by horror movies and basically I think that they are increadibally stupid and let me tell you this one does not dissapoint!! The only thing that bothers me about these movies is that some person will think that it was soo cool that they will try to immulate it (hope I spelled that word right)!! Also, I had a mushroom swiss burger and it was the worst thing that i ever have eaten. But of course I ate the whole thing LOL!! Don't ask me why.......please just don't ask!!!
