Fresh haircut, Lee jeans!

But the sweatshirt has to go! It's the wrong shade of grey and just washes him out! (if he's going to wear grey, he needs darker warmer shades of grey)

Glad you were able to make that reading, martin.

I had planned to make it, but had to push my trip to the Island back one week.

Probably not - too bad.

Any good questions from the audience? or supremely weak ones (like the first one from the CBC reading that will be available to hear tomorrow)?

bad(ly asked) question: "... are there are new technologies you'd like to share with us before you pass on?"

Q: "Why is Hollis an ex rock star?" A: "Why not? ... bunch of stuff ... Only if the folder of why nots gets larger than the folder if whys would I start to get worried about the character" (heavily paraphrased)

Q: "I've noticed your have more female leads..."
A: "Well, I like Women. My idea of a certain kind of hell is an all male enviroment, such as a traditional athletic team, or traditional military. ... Bunch of Stuff... when Hollywood was looking at Neuromancer they said 'this could be really good, but we don't think anyone is going to believe a movie where the boy sits and hacks and the girl is the one who gets up and kicks butt' and I'm like 'No, it's totally believeable' and now look what you've got in the medium today, girls can totally kick ass and people get it."

Q: I have no idea what the quesion was, probably something about world building...
A: "In university we were taught literary realism... bunch of stuff... reading Tolkien, and I kept asking myself things like 'who owns the Shire? How much does a cask of pipeweed cost? I never really got Lord of the Rings..."

Hello all,

The podcast file of our host's CBC book club reading is now available.

It's about 53 minutes long (about 4 minutes of preliminaries), and the audio is very clear.

First question:

"I was wondering if you could say anything about the relevance to your work of the trajectory of modern technophilic capitalism and its reliance on a) addiction (internet addiction, pharmaceutical addiction); and b) altered states?"

Enjoy.

Well, thank dog there were no drug related questions last night. And none about how "..all your previous books were set in the future, but now you're writing....".

Heh - I think the hosts addressed the temporal setting that night, with WG giving his viewpoint (that the books reflect the time in which they are written). I'll have listen to the entire thing to refresh my memory. Just scanned it so far - especially to get that spectacularly inane first question.

I should add that the podcast will not be available indefinitely, going by the email we received (theminx posted the text of that email on page 2). You may have only one week to grab the file from their site.
