Geez, and I move to Halifax on April 1. Look's like the April Fool's joke is on me rather than Nova Scotia.

Stuff happens.

From an American living in (North) Vancouver -- when exactly is this CBC interview? (Hope I haven't missed it.)

Cheers

I'd really like to hear the questions from 120 short story writers to WG. Is there a streaming source for the CBC broadcast?

Hmm, with all the coughing and wheezing and sneezing in (*insert personal nickname for Toronto here*) , do you think it's a good idea for anyone not already in Toronto, to actually go there?

Is that a SARS joke or a joke about pollution? Either way, see you on Tuesday.

We're right on the harbourfront, so I think the pollution would get you first before that nasty metamorphicvirus would Smile

Thanks Kirkaholic for the post up regarding the T.O. because I'm heading there too.

Btw, anyone know if there's also a book signing happening?

Um, because I waited too late, didn't figure on having to buy tickets, the number's not in service, and I have to go to work very early on Thursday morning anyway?

Yagh. Anyone know if it's sold out or not? It's in the York Quay - Brigantine Room, according to the link at readings.org (whose ticketing system isn't working), so maybe if I bring a bribe, they'll let me in at the door? Wink Worth a shot, what?

Yelena, procrastinatress-at-large

Amendment: Ahhhh, but the ticket line will be open after 1:00pm tomorrow, so I may be able to give myself a birthday present yet.

I also found directions, for those who are going.

My question (Yeah, yeah, I've lived here four years, and I still don't know my way around downtown - pity me, I'm a hick, all right? Smile ) is, I know how to get to the EX on the 509, but am not sure which stop is closest to the Harbourfront Centre? Is it around the docks (Queens Quay) or after QQ? Kirkaholic? Anybody?

Oh, and ignore Martin, people. He's just jealous because we're experiencing what's looking to be a lovely spring, while the longterm forecast for the We(s)t Coast is predicting 110mm of rain. I may not be able to find my way around downtown T.O., but I don't miss monsoon season one bit, nosirreee.

Wink

Get off two stops after the streetcar passes the Spadina Ave stop OR just ask the driver to drop you off right at the Harbourfront Centre.

If you pass the ferry/boat docks beside Queens Quay Building OR the Second Cup, you've passed the Harbourfront Centre.

Sit nearest to the exit doors and look for two things:

1. A big white building with the sign Harbourfront Centre right in the front.
2. A big Orange. No kidding.

Hey, I bought tix late on Friday around 6pm (box office is open til 8pm) and there's plenty of tickets left. At least since Friday!

I got my answer this morning. Read on!

TRANSMISSION:

You will have the opportunity to purchase the authors' books as well as have them signed at the reading.
Although the order in which the authors will read is unconfirmed, we can tell you that the first two authors who read will sign at intermission,

and the third author will sign at the
end of the evening.

Thank you for your interest,
The Harbourfront Reading Series

Thanks, cyn.

I just went through the online box office (which is up again), and they still have tickets left, but I don't have a credit card to buy with. Will there be a box office open Wednesday so we can pay at the door?

TIA.

Yelena

[to the Blog re: Toronto appearance]

God. That sounds terrible. I hope you, WG, get a speedy recovery.

Sounds like the body is making itself known. No contempt for the "meat" here.

Ah crap in a hat! And the best part is... No fucking refunds. I even pulled strings so I could be a fly on the wall at the Book TV interview. Damn.

Now read the descriptions of the Nanopore masks at the begining of Virtual Light.

Get well soon, WG.

First off, I hope Mr. Gibson feels better asap.

Secondly, I am immensely disappointed. With Mr. Gibson being my favourite author, ranking above other greats such as Haruki Murakami and Philip K. Dick, I am very saddened that I won't be able to finally shake hands with the man.

I am a struggling writer and I was hoping for a few words of wisdom, besides the usual jargon of 'every one has to write a million words of crap' and 'just keep at it kiddo.' I read his very influential forward to John Shirley's City Come A-Walkin' every time I need inspiration.

Just as John Shirley convinced Mr. Gibson to keep at it, to keep the pen against paper, I was hoping for a touch of that; hoping for Mr. Gibson to be my John Shirley, even for a second.

Anyways, I digress;

Get well soon, WG.

...with a hefty 'no refunds' attached to it plus one extra ticket to boot.

I wish this was a joke....

Getting better should be anyones #1 priority and for the fact WG posted, rather then 'WE' hearing an announcement right at time of performance.

With past the events happening in Toronto, this was definately the icing on the cake...gurrr.

I hope the other two authors will entertain.

**IF you bought a ticket, keep in mind that it's not a waste...only if 'you' decieded it is.
Events like IRAH wouldn't happen here IF the community didn't recoginze the importance of literary greats and their admirers...and payment of $8+ is just part of keeping events like this alive.Who knows, WG may come again.

BUT I still hope for a refund!!

So, with that in mind, personally, there's no point in wasting a ticket and an opportunity to hang with friends Smile

~WG, wishing you a speedy recovery~

Peace out,
~cyn004
