Unless someone wants to disabuse me, it appears marshie's workaround has finally been outflanked. Loads up the avatar in the faux-popup OK, but when I go to the profile page it still shows the old one. I've tried this on two computers, and using IE, Firefox and Mozilla (while using Mozilla I killed the moonbat - bastardbastardbastardface).

I have no wish to hear from Mac users for whom this still works - you can all sod off. Grrrrrr.

Any idea exactly when this happened? I changed my avatar successfully not a week and a half ago (roughly) using your workaround, Marshdrifter - no problem. If it happened more recently than that, that's a pretty lousy deal for those who went to do it and got blocked
