I don't seem to be getting the 'page not loading properly problem' anymore.

Gar.

I'm not against the new look or features, but there seem to be a few kinks. I will try to detail them later but my last attempt to post got an error 500 (Internal Server Error).

First major problem: Where'd the 'go to' list go? (Edit: Found it. The 'go' button at the top.)
Next problem: Why does it log me out after I edit a post?

I against change simply for it's own sake. Explain to me what was wrong with the "old" forum? This is like going to your favourite place and finding someone has moved all the rooms, painted, and tried to design new doorknobs.

Oh and I hate the "floating menus", they make this machine drag slower than a tricycle missing two wheels. What's wrong with the old "non-javascript" menus? There's a web-developer out there somewhere who needs a flogging.

Why the Fuck is the "go" only at the top of the page? I'm down here a the bottom of the page.

Does anyone else find it a bit slower than the original version?

Slow? Yes, very slow. It's just taken me 10 minutes to get back in to see if there's any replies to my indignance.

One thing I've noticed is that if you get a full list through search of a particular poster's posts, when you move to the next page you lose your initial search settings - specifically if you search with "Display Post Details" UNchecked, the pages subsequent to the first display with the post details.

Not a big deal.

It was indeed very slow a while ago.

It seems to be fine right now though.

Also, search doesn't really "group by topic" - it divides long topics up into groups of date ranges and intersperses them with other topics. I don't know if this is intended.

Slow. Slow. Ssssllloowwwwww....
"Oh well, change is good. Maybe the 'Search' works OK now..."
Well, I take it 'Find' is the new 'Search'; can't tell, because, on Explorer/MacOS 9.2 and OSX, a little popup appears from three seconds and goes away.
Oh well, indeed.
Tried Netscape and Opera; I'm reprimanded for being such a procastinating luddite. Yes, I have to upgrade. *Mmmmhhhffff*
Well, on the other hand, I always wanted color on my posts.
Sure.

Ah, where's the handy menu at the bottom, to jump from forum to forum?

And while things are being overhauled, how about being able to post images as attachments, so they're hosted *on* the board, like on InfoPop UBBThreads?

I *hope* it's some sick April's Fool joke...
OK, Ha ha, funny. Can we get the old board back?

Where are the titles?

Where has the title field gone? I don't want to have to hand format it everytime. I liked the titles in the search results.

Why? Why? Why?

In order to reply to or edit a post, I have to disable my pop-up killing software. This does not make me happy.

You can't enable pop-ups on specific sites?

Good morning-

The new look is a surprise to me, as well.
I'll do a little checking on the new format and see if we can solve some of the most common complaints. Thus far:

-Random logouts after editing posts
-Pop-up software problems
-Title field is missing
-Search by topic functionality missing
-Search settings
-Floating buttons
-'Go To' not at top and bottom of pages

Anything else? I want you all to be happy here...

Thanks, T68

Hmm. Looks like the 'search' feature works a lot better than before. That's a real improvement. I didn't have any problems with the popups and stuff (using Opera); however, I remember the title of the topic (thread) you are viewing used to be displayed in bold at the top of the page (inside the blue bar? don't remember) which made it a lot easier to identify the thread you are viewing. Now it is only inside the 'path' as in:

William Gibson Books>www.williamgibsonboard.com> www.williamgibsonboard.com>Announcements>If you have Discussion Board problems or comments

That's a pretty long line and gets broken at random places, so it's not that easy to quickly spot the topic title. Especially if you use tabbed browsing and have 10 different threads open at once.

In the forum view, I also find it pretty hard to distinguish 'old' threads from ones with new posts; the difference is that it is a tiny 8x8 notebook icon which turns yellow instead of white; that was a lot easier to read before. Also, where have the icon descriptions at the bottom gone? I'm not really sure about the exact meanings of different icons. Also, why is there two 'notebook' icons in front of each thread?

The new look definitely caused some confusion, but I appreciate the new features so I say stick with it (after ironing out the bugs).

Edit: The default setting for 'signature' when editing used to be 'off' if you had it off when originally and 'on' if you had it on. Now it is always 'on' when editing, so you have to manually turn it off whenever you edit. Just a minor thing though.

the cursor moves to the top of the page rather than continue on after the line of text you just typed?anyone notice that when you use a color and then finish...

hmmm, when using any functions (italics etc.) the curser reverts to the beginning. kind of frustrating. when finished with an entry in a bold or italics window, you must click ok to enter it. it would be nice to simply press ENTER. thanks.
