I just met "the man", and am now a new convert due to the sheer religiousness of the experience. The exact spot... 4th and vine, (vancouver obviously). I stopped and said "you could be a double for William Gibson", he said "yes". I said "thanks for all the books" he said, "and many more". So after several more "benedictions" and "go in peace my son", I picked up the fallen scales form my eyes (could have been these old contacts) and left him swaggering down the street. I didnt want to harrangue him, like those gosh americans are known to. But to spend a few more moments in his presence...illumination.

4/24/2005. Seattle, WA. Around Noon. Walking around Pike Place Market.
In the end, chose not to tackle him and make him sign my man-breasts.

I've never actually met the man, but in a weird way I've come very close. A good friend of mine attended his reading on saltspring island, where we originated. I also happen to know a couple who are (apperently) good friends with him. It's the weirdest thing to be having a conversation and have someone mention what "bill gibson" said the other day. Takes a few seconds for that to click. Moving to vancouver in september and hope to get a sighting, although I don't know what I'd do. Gibber quitely in the precense of his splendor probably. maybe ask a really assanine question. hmmm...this IS getting a little obsessive isn't it

I don't know what other stuff has been going down here but people talking about THE AUTHOR in such horrible fan-freak way makes my blood run cold. As to my abscence, I have been away, a long way away, doing things you people couldn't even begin to understand. Puny humans.

quote: It was loud too and you don't take our word for it. Novelist William Gibson was here - he's writing a story for Wired Magazine - and having been at the second Seattle show (which is beginning to be viewed as one of the best shows on the tour so far) he remarked that tonight's reception from the audience was even more raucous. (Gibson knows U2 from way back - Bono even took part in a documentary about him filmed in the back of a limo - and he and his wife Deborah took the chance to catch up with Edge after the show, no doubt discussing the future of everything). http://www.u2.com/news/index.php?mode=full&news_id=1525
