Although I will go to Chicago or NYC to see him, I'd really prefer just to drive the hour to Toronto. I can't seem to find any reference to Canadian dates anywhere though. I'm wondering if he's planning to do a Canadian tour after? I've just bought an ARC copy of Pattern Recognition and I'd love to have it signed!

It never seems to happen...no author of any caliber seems to think that Canada is a place to actually include in a book tour.

Add Montreal to the book tour....over 1 1/2 million readers just on the island Smile

It'd be especially annoying if he didn't 'do' Canada since he's a freekin' resident!

If you talk Mr. Gibson into going to Texas, then he may as well make a stop in Albuquerque. If he doesn't do a book signing, he can have dinner at my house. Cool

is out of the question - not that I wouldn't make the eight hour drive to denver if my car had more than one working gear.

Kansas is always out of the question. Frown But William S Burroughs lived here! He wrote his last few books here! There's a Burroughsian Kami now! (well, there could be)

Hear, hear! Besides, Austin is the more centrally located. And Bruce Sterling lives here.

It would be wonderful to see WG back in Edinburgh. Last time I saw him was on the "Virtual Light Tour". Got my original edition "Neuromancer" signed.

Do I need to make a reservation at all with the Los Angeles bookstore? I am flying in from Japan and I would hate to be turned away? Will they have copies of the book ready or should I purchase one in advance?

I know most stores are open to visitors and have books to be bought and signed, but sometimes they don't. I don't want to end up disappointed if I am going to go all the way there and not get my book.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

I would just e-mail the store at booksoup@aol.com
I'm sure they can answer any questions you have.

...for those of you who have been to these events before. This is, I think, a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway. If someone were to take a short story, on cd, say, would WG accept it? If so, would he read it? I realize he probably gets a billion billion over the transom texts like this, so it's sort of a shot in the dark. Or would it be better to avoid the embarrassment and general discomfort of all involved?

Anyway...

Ann Arbor, MI?

We've got the original Border's store here and a massive crowd of readers. We'd love to have you out here. I mean, c'mon, you'll be right over there in Illinois anywho, you might as well swing by.

This is one of the reasons why I love living near San Francisco.

I don't mean to gloat, really, I'm just excited that I'm lucky enough to have multiple opportunities near me.

Mr. Gibson, please take note...you have admirers in the State of Texas including Austin and Houston. You should consider adding a stop or two in Texas to your book signing tour.

He could come for the Derby! Louisville's now the 16th largest city in the US, and we demand recognition! Some of us can actually read!

Tiger, Would it be a possibility if maybe Mr. Gibson could sell a couple signed copies of PR online for the discussion board members? That way the people
caught too far from a book signing could grab something too.

Thanks for your time,

Tine

Milwaukee. Everyone should go to Milwaukee. Well, William Gibson should, at least. Maybe, just maybe, this winter we'll have snow!!

Hello Tinesthai:

The usual practice during these signing tours is that the author signs some extra copies for each store. My suggestion would be that you e-mail or call a store where Mr. Gibson will be appearing, and ask them to reserve a signed copy for you. They can then mail you your copy.
Hope that helps.

I guess I shouldn't complain since those in foreign countries or the deep south would have to travel farther than myself.

Probably just gonna have to drive up to Wash, DC and make a long weekend of it. Do the Smithsonian, etc. DC is just so damn cold in February. Smile
