Q1: If I ask if anyone can point at what "evert" is, is this a spoiler?

Q2: Can anyone point to what "evert" is?

Context: I'm in "NO SPOILERS" because I'm still inside. Getting comfortable. And unsettled...

I guess if you're not certain if something is a spoiler, you might want to go to the actual spoiler thread just to be on the safe side. On the other hand, that might spoil something for you... Hmm, i see your dillema Wink

Gibson actually uses "evert" in Pattern Recognition--that is, something virtual manifesting in the physical world.

Thanks for your empathy, Wanderer.

I kind of like the mathematical context - something akin to removing the insides of an egg without breaking the shell...

I read it as "turning inside out". Cyberspace is no longer something you go into, it's all around you. Regular journalists are realizing this, for example in a recent article by David Brooks in the International Herald Tribune (really the New York Times) headlined " The external brain The external brain".
