Just posted the photos of my books from last night's signing in Washington DC. I forgot my stupid camera though. So these are just of the books. I'm hoping someone got some good shots. There seemed to be a bunch of very nice cameras present.

The "Hotel" Trilogy?

"Book One"

"Book Two"

"Book Three", the unwritten

Heh, Heh! Excellent!

He's given up the typewriter and the Mac and is going to write Book 3 in a moleskin notebook!

Great post, welcome to the board!

It's actually not a "real" Moleskine. I thought about that. But couldn't find one that was big enough. I wanted to approximate the size of the other two books, so it wouldn't look odd on my shelf. This was a cheap Moleskine rip-off. Which I thought was appropriate, given Cayce's preference of brand rip-offs in Pattern Recognition.

Also, it almost has no cover. Just one layer of thicker, vinyl followed by a somewhat heavier gray inner cover. It's very nearly a "deconstruction" of "book" as it were. A spectral volume of sorts. Very Gibsonesque.

Actually Cayce doesn't go for brand rip-offs, she debrands her clothes in Pattern Recognition (with the exception of the Rickson's)

But I do think that Moleskin's are ripoffs for their price, and it was an excellent signing idea.

So far we've seen both and iPhone and and iPod (on Flickr only) and a blank notebook signed. WG really will sign anything! He's turning into a real Piero Manzoni*!!!

*Read the next to the last paragraph in the Wikipedia entry above to get the reference!

Oh yeah. That's true. Of course it was the Rickson's I was thinking about.

Still, I think his is more of a fascination with the "form" of something rather than the "label".

Absolutely. She's buying stuff because of it's function and looks, not because of the brand. However once she finds a brand that suits her purpose (Levis, Fruit-of-the-Loom, etc.) she's going to keep getting it because it's tried and true (but needs to be unbranded)

However at the end of the book she kept her Louis Vuitton attache and didn't have a panic attack!

I was trying on some clothes recently and the guy at the shop pulled out a sweater dress he thought I should try on...I gasped, "But it's "Tommy!" but ended up trying it on anyway. Too scratchy and didn't fit!!! Smile

We've got a tradition here of taking Still Life Photos with various objects (Guns, Boots, Sporks, etc. ) Here's one of mine:

No. He didn't.

However, and this is going to sound REALLY strange, I had a dream last night that dovetailed into my friend and I leaving the actual book signing. After dinner, we stumbled upon Bill and someone else (Caybe perhaps? Hollis? The THIRD female protagonist?) sitting on a grassy knoll somewhere in Washington. He said something along the lines of, "That was a very sneaky trick you pulled. Though it just so happens to have a working copy of Book Three here." He pulled it out of a bag, the title looked like it was in Russian. I took a little in college, and it was definitely Cyrilic. If I remember the dream correctly, it read "Troika". Which, of course, it Russian for "Troligy"

Crazy!?

Here are a few photos I took today at Mr. Gibson's stop in Virginia. He seemed a gracious man. I was happy to meet him and have him sign my copies of Neuromancer and Spook Country.

If the pictures aren't showing up try here

No, terrific!
I can see him going back to Russia, Damien will return and the heroine will be called... well, Aicha sounds reasonable... She will hate being asked about the Outlandish remix.

Dream on Smile

Edit: always confuse Outlandish (Danish) and Outlander.

Well, Holy Fucking Shit. I presume MK spilled the beans?

If you don't know who this is, I'll just give these few hints: Thank you for leaving the honey and cough drops in your left hand desk drawer. The folks in Trailer 4 miss you. And nobody knows how to manage the network here anymore, you lucky bastard.
