The collective “groan, snort, chuckle” from the audience as a result of the "pirates" gaff was pretty funny. I felt embarrassed for the guy from Borders. I instantly thought of the Pink Floyd song “Have a Cigar”. The pertinent lyrics snippet… “The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which ones Pink?”

It was a pretty good mix of chuckles and groans Big Grin
I should've worn a WiGBer t-shirt. Just now saw edit's meeting place post. I drove up to Richmond Friday morning with no net access and had to bookit back for my nephew's birthday today and pick up my boy. Hard to recognize WiGBers out of context.

I believe Splitcoil is giving MetroDCJay hints to as who he (Splitcoil) is.

Spilled them about what? This event? I told told him about it. Hmm.. and you are I'll venture to guess normally close to the man behind the curtain. Ah! Trailer 4 - domain of the BFers and Caveman. It is good to be where I am, but evil needs looking after. Give greetz for me to all. Enjoy the honey and drops. Nice to bump into you.

Man, it is a tiny world. MK's a she... I think you think I meant KM. I forgot you were new enough that you wouldn't know MK. Suffice it to say we had other colleagues at the reading that night.

I'll say hello to the evil for you, too, and make sure it's properly attended. Nice to bump into you, too. I nearly cackled out loud when I saw your picture. Cheers-

I am so "outside" these refs. Can't we all just speak cleanly, unt openly? [I know, lame request.]
Must I spend the next 6 months re-reading threads to get up to speed, here?

It's all here, Anabel - Spitcoil and 'new member' metrodcjay know each other offboard. Yes. Spitcoil was telling him that by details he would know, but nobody here would. Spook Country or what?

Sentinel has it. Sorry for all the secret handshakes, it was just quite a surprise to see his face looking at me on the board, especially now. I'm on temporary assignment out of my normal office right now, and metrodcjay (mjay) was here on the same assignment last rotation. I'm actually sitting at his old desk. Pretty spectacular coincidence, really. Another colleague of ours, whom it turns out mjay doesn't know, was supposed to be at the signing he went to in VA. This I knew, but I didn't know mjay was going. 'Course it turned out the other colleague didn't go.

Boardworld meets Meatworld. Sort of like Bizarro Splitcoil meeting normal Splitcoil.

The 'Caveman' he references, by the way, is easily the most Gibsonian character I've ever met or even heard of. He's more Gibsonian than WG's actual characters. I'd love to introduce them, but I'd be afraid the Caveman would eat him. It was the Caveman who introduced me to PIRATE AIRLIFT, for instance. I'd tell you more, but then he might eat me.

William Gibson at the Brattle Theater, near Harvard Sq, yesterday at 6PM! Sorry, it was very dark. We also have a clip of most of the event (read chapters 9 and 10)

Had a lot of fun with a friend making and wearing a "special" T-shirt! Big Grin
