So are the blog fragments in order that they will appear in the book? Or a different order?

For instance, looking at the Milgrim/Brown fragments to date does the 9/20 From the Other Side of the Screen go before Rize 5mg? Screen seems to refer to Rize like it might be the first time Milgrim takes it while in Brown captivity.

What about the Milgrim and Brown in the zodiac in Jamaica Star M/V- after the segment where Milgrim goes to the carpet after the muffed Brown ordered caper in Relatively New Carpet?

What order are the Hollis Henry (aka P.T.) bits going to be in?

What order for the Tito fragments?

We could put up a prize for the one that gets it right when the new book comes out. WG autographed copy??? Not that I have any way to get one when it comes out Smile

Off hand I'd say RIZE comes before MOOR because Milgrim appears to have read more of that section of his book by the time of the latter. No idea about the rest.

I disagree, because in RIZE he already has that chapter as a favorite. Just a nitpick, really, but he seems to be freer as well in RIZE, exploring more autonomy.

I would say UNION SQUARE comes after the flat clean-up, because Tito there is not really stressed, as if he was really fleeing.

Interesting discussions. I get the subjective vibe that they are more or less in novel order, which of course may not be chronological.

Hello, I'm new here and desperate for a new novel from the Great Man. The fragments I see here are most tantalising.

Do I understand correctly that we will have to wait until NEXT YEAR (2007) for the finsihed article? Some of us may not even live that long! Has he published anything since Pattern Recognition?

Kind regards

A very special venue to be in watching this forming(and other works forming. Check out the Dead Channel, Shadoth's stuff and the write something now thread, hopefully remote and a few people will allow their stuff to be published). Good to see you Audrey.

I still think WG's final won't be ready until 2008 (cause I want to win FP's Book Big Grin). And I can be patient 'til then as long as we still get to see the precurors.

With the last fragment I feel the order is really "novel" order, and he is building up a coalescence of the three threads around Vancouver.

I think you're right again JRE.
from Relatively New Carpet:

“No,” said Brown, “we are not going back to the New Yorker.”

JRE- that would be cool- coalescing all three threads around the one city. I can't remember if his other books do that or not. I have the vague sense they do, but in PR getting Hubertus, Parka Boy, Cayce, Doretea and the Russians all in the same frame didn't happen until the end and then I think Hubertus never got there if I recall correctly (maybe not?). I should dig it out and read it again.

It usually marks the ending, and often someone is present only indirectly. Turner and Bobby meet, but Marly does not meet them. Konrad, Chevette, Idoru and Rydell are together for a while in the Bridge, but Laney is present only in spirit. In MLO everyone gets together for the climactic finale, but Kumiko is present only through her representative, Colin.

PR did not have a multithread narrative, being focused only on Cayce.

In this case I am fairly sure Milgrim, Hollis and Tito (our three observers) are all in Vancouver at some time, so it seems logical to tie it up there. I suppose all three pass through NY too, but that seems early, more like traces interacting than a full resolution.

So where do you think they'll all end up in Vancouver?

And they will, of course, take the prescribed photographs and post them on the "Restroom" thread.
