quote: That is the correct response. quote: Not so good. Never give your taunters the pleasure of having silenced you. And you should have said, "Your father was a hamster and your mother smelled of elderberries!" Not everyone here is French, and not all (or even most) French people are unpleasant, and even adrian_69 makes a funny post now and again. Though, it is interactions like this one that make me think we need to revise the we're all sensible adults theory of the WGB. ________ You have to give up. |

This is my first day here and the very first thread I've read. I found many interesting and thought provoking insights into the book. Especially the connections and references to things external to the novel, as well as the real world. However, as I read this thread, the most obvious connection I found is the sometimes heated interaction between members of the "footagehead" chat room. Specifically, how quickly net denizens can be urged into rude, immature, petulent, and often times utterly abusive behavior. And with little provocatino. Just goes to show that there is little relationship between IQ (Intelligence Quotient, or "itellectual development potential") and EQ (Emotional Quotient, or "emotional development potential").
Don't worry, I do not intend to become an emotional moderator, as Cayce was forced to become in her interaction with the footagehead chat room. Just drawing attention to another parallel between the book and the real world. Nailed it, again, William. I threw up blood this morning. Don't worry, it wasn't mine. |

i admit i was having a bit of fun abusing the french guy.. but then if i felt like it so what?
at least i had the spirit to give a descent (charismatic) response.. rather than being all polite and democratic about it.. i felt like putting him down so i did.. and who are you to make judgements on that? a whole bunch of deriding and self-righteous judgements at that.. at least my insults had substance and a reason.. (haha..erm..) he was beeing damn rude.. considering i was new aswell and trying to enter into some descent conversation.. when that was immediately brocken i reacted in the same kind of irrational way.. perhaps it was just me letting out some existentialist angst.. or was it the sun.. |

what the hell is that?
how do measure emotional development? its all relative isnt it? different cultures have different standards and ideas of behaviour and its relation to maturity.. and dont get me started on measuring intelligence. |

Good to see you haven't given up.
Edit: I just noticed the odd conflict between that and my sig. Hmm. ________ You have to give up. |

Camus originally blamed a then popular brand of sun tan lotion but his litigation weary editor told him to change it into the now famous quote...
