First of all, hi, first post and all that

I would like to discuss something I noticed.

Spoilers from Count Zero ahead.

In Count Zero, there is this subplot about these boxes, compiled from various...stuff, similar to something I saw in Guggenheims in NY once. And there is this moment when the AI on the station builts a new one, apparently randomly making something beautiful out of rubbish.

In PR, there is this footage, the snippets of movie, processed and overprocessed till it is not recognizable anymore and still has, I dunno, enough essence to interest viewers. It's not really a reversal of the process of the scene in CZ but I striked me as similar.

Now I have been wondering if I'm the only one who noticed this, and if there are other scenes in other books which would fit this theme? I have only read the Sprawl trilogy and PR. And in general, what do you think about that? Utter bullshit or is it something worth thinking about?

If you search through our older posts (it's alot, I know), you'll find we discussed the point quite a few times.

Many of us agree that PR and CZ have a rather similar structure (despite CZ having several separate storylines), including a search of a mysterious artist, and funding from a rich employer.

I've seen some "Cornell Boxes" also, at MoMA. The artist, Joseph Cornell, is something of a Gibson favorite.

Ah, Cornell boxes, yes the name has been on the tip of my tongue. Regarding WGs liking of them, is there a direct comment from him on this or is it just circumstantial? Guess I´m a bit obsessed with that connection.

edit: ah, googling both names together has quite a turn out of blog snippets, reviews and other stuff *goes reading*
