So after a reasonable time has passed after the official ending, why don't we begin the unofficial projects?

I have a couple of really bad (phony and terrible English speak, not necessarily sound quality) audio files (some people asked me to destroy them, which means I may have some trouble finding a host). I may yet try to start two unofficial spin-offs at the same time.

Being ridiculous never stopped me before.

José

been trying to decide whether to post this or not.
but i did my first new piece of music for quite some time, and used a part of my reading in it.

can't decide whether i still like the piece, the conversion to MP3 did some funny things to the sound. though it is supposed to sound a little funny anyway, cause thats just me....

so yeah erm, streaming track available here
- presented for the bemusement of all...

It's rare for me to find electronica I can listen to, but I didn't mind that one at all, rp.

And since I have teh computar machine all revved up and ready to go, I'm willing to participate in any new unofficial sillyness.

I am still looking for someplace to host my first archives. My usual samaritan must be still laughing (and too busy) to help me, so I am looking for another one.

Or maybe the world is not meant to suffer me trying to speak English-English.

José

electronica is like so many other things, there is just lots of it, helps to get a feel for what you like and go from there.

if you like that you might folk like the australian Pimmon or the belgian Khon, the sort of stuff that goes for textured, a little off key, but warm feeling.

glad you liked anyway.

did you listen to the other piece? its more noise, but it has japanese samples, which i wonder if they mean what i think they mean. Smile

I listened to and enjoyed both tracks. I dig stuff like that. I'll be adding Pimmon and Khon to my ever growing list of stuff to hunt down.

Can't help you with the samles though.

I haven't listened to the second piece yet. I'm trying to, but it doesn't seem to be downloading. Will try again later.

Laughing no, busy yeah. But as a samaritan never too busy to help out. Mail me the files (if you still have my adress) and I'll see if I have some space left.

And when I have more time (and inspiration) I'll gladly contribute something.
As you might have noticed, being ridiculous is my default setting.

She says "it's snowing". I have to admit I preferred the first one, but as I said before, I'm not much of a judge of electronica. Wink

Edit: This is addressed to remotepush, if it isn't obvious.

Jose : I have space for any files.
Especially if you make a fool of yourself in those.

Just send them to me.
Or email me and I'll create you an ftp account.

(but ElGringo asked first ^^ )

Thanks to El Gringo, I can tempt you to show you can do better than me. I am trying to push two possible projects at the first time.

- First is the opening of Neuromancer. I personally favour that people just read more or less the same fragment (if you are fast, you could read more, I suppose), so that we can compare and wonder at the different emphasis. And maybe build a Neuromancer White noise machine or some other kind of mix.

However, if someone wants to keep reading where I stop, like in the original project, that could be valid as well.

Neuromancer

- The second project, which I like more because it is more personal and open ended, is to read a Gibson's fragment that for some reason has come to have a special meaning for you. There is no need to explain, or even identify the fragment (hunt the quote, anyone?), but all kinds would be welcome.

The fragment I have chosen is from All Tomorrow Parties, and of course deals with Konrad, and war, and a watch.

Anyone is welcome to make fun of my accent, but only if they supply a reading first.

Finally, I would recommend those who have problems hosting the ausio files to say so in this thread. A solution will appear quickly.

José

yeah thats about what i thought she was saying.
i didn't think as many folk would like that one - it is less electronica and more of a noise piece, it was originally released on an annual christmas themed compilation from a small DIY record label.

thanks for the confirmation anyway.

Unable, yet, to pick a favorite passage, instead I can only give you my sky above the port.

i'll likely do a bit of count zero. the whole slamhound thing. just trying a reading just now, need to try again.

but i have been thinking for a while it would be interesting to open it up - do a "passages" kind of thing, where folk just chuck up random passages they come across in what ever they are reading at the moment.

And, to get back in line with José, here's a WG passage that has special meaning for me, and, in my case, probably nobody else.

Note that my ISP seems to be having some sort of technical difficulties.

The same here.

I really liked the Neuromancer low, down to subbass, reading.

Bass baseline indeed.
