Oh.

I was thinking you'd put all the extracts on the same audblog page. You could create one of those group blogs and invite those who'd signed up to read to join it. This would help people know where the project was up to in the readings (and allow uninvolved lurkers like me to access them all with ease). But what do I know.

Which is a great idea - but you only get three free goes and then you have to pay cash money for more.
So if everyone signs up separately that's three free audioposts each.
Remotepush, now you really have to read some!

Technically you only get one free post...

but since the UI just let me keep going, I did three of them...

Fearing that I might get a bill I stopped after three....

yeah i was just wondering about that - cause it says you only get one. it also seems not to like the format of the phone number it is asking me for. but hey, i guess i have a blog now. um yeah.

when you have to input the phone number you intend to use, it's only so that later when you call up to do your reading it can check that you are the person who registered. You have to input that same 3, 3, 4 digit number again.
So it doesn't really matter what number you put in there as long as you remember it. I just entered my studio number without the country code.

How did I miss this thread!? I'm so pissed!

Ah, I see, in the PR forums, which I don't read. Oh well...

I'll follow up at home. But I'm not using Blogger when I have a perfectly good Mac.

Oh good - that means Doggo gets the challenge of pronouncing "Damieniana" - which I believe is in the next bit. I think that's why the rest of us were hanging back.

If you think of the rythm in the song "Gary Indiana" from the musical "The Music Man" you can say Damieniana.

Just remember that Damieniana rhymes with Indiana.
(DAY-ME-IN-EE-AN-AH)

Now try saying Tchaikowskiana, which was a composition we played in our high school band.

Note cross-relevant thread: PR on NPR.

How's your reading going, doggo?

Thanks Black Jacque and Rob,

Gibson's reading is found between minute
5:24-6:23 on the audio file

http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2003/jun/cheuse_books/index.html

Click on "Listen to Alan Cheuse's summer reading picks" to hear audio file.

The excerpt starts with "Google Cayce" and ends with "by a puzzled Korean locksmith, in the Village a week ago".

this sounded fun and your blogs sounded great. here's the next snippet. i think i sound like i am reading this thru wax paper over a dixie cup with a thread (sorry l. bruce), but that might be the quality over boonie phone lines.

italian kettle

i stopped at "static switches pulsing gently" (as sensuous an image as hardware can generate eh?).

Great! Glad to have a new member reading.

At least 3 more minutes of readings before the dreaded "Damieniana"...

not humming gently at all. I used a sound soft and the whining you can hear is my computer thinking. and the creaking is the screen moving as I talk to it.

good lord I can hear you guys. sentinel400 sounds kinda like neil gaiman. =;p

I say ah-loo-mee-nee-yum, you say ah-loo-muh-num.

let's call the whole thing off.

Damien's ambivalence toward design

I thought this file was rather large compared to the others. Is that wrong?

I'm in the middle of finishing up something. I think this is a great idea though, and will post some readings in the next week or 2. Hopefully enough time will pass so that I can be the lucky one who hits p. 34, and gets to whisper the mantra.....

It was nice to hear you reading Wraith.

I'll gather the links onto one page when we've got a couple of more readings.

i've decided i'm too paranoid to trust the free-ness of audio-blog. so, i've been experimenting with the mic i have in the house, which was crap. but as soon as i can get my hands on something that actually records sound i'll post something.

nae worries!
