That name has a very creepy feel to it (probably why I like it.)

I know that there was an 80's band by that name (remember the museum sequence in Ferris Bueler?)

Back then a lot of bands had names that had creepy references, so I was wondering (or half remembering) if there wasn't some KGB program by that name?

The name reminded me of musician John Cale:

his early NYC avant-garde band (before The Velvet Underground) was The Dream Syndicate; his second or third album was The Academy in Peril. (And Gibson is a fan, hence "All Tomorrow's Parties", the Velvet Underground song.)
