How come Pattern Recognition is retailing in AU
for (softcover) AU$45 (~US$35) or (hardcover) AU$45.

When I bought "The Difference Engine" I don't
remeber it being more than $30...
is this some sort of new-release
tax that hurts the hard-core fans first ?

trade paper of PR to the mass produced paper of
the Difference Engine?

In Japan, Pattern Recognition came out briefly in hard then went straight to paper. In paperback it's the cheapest of his books available. Most are around 1,500 ~ 2,000 yen, but this one is 980. Maybe popularity is a factor? Because there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason.
