Wow, thanks for the link, I didn't realise you could read books so far in advance.
I'm still going to wait for the hardback and really savour it!
Thanks for the link though

I've only read the exerpt of the book, and I found it quite *soapy*. I'm hoping from the posts I've read above that I'm wrong. And the whole September 11th tie-in seems a bit hackneyed. How important to the book as a whole is it? I'd hate to think that Gibson had started jumping on bandwagons...

I'd like to know this myself. Perhaps they could only do justice (from a marketing perspective) in early 2003? I'm sure all the publishers have lots of people paid to figure out the best time to release a novel ... taking into consideration the competing books hitting the stands at the same time, the weather, the alignment of the stars, etc. I'd love to hear a definitive answer, if anybody happens to know.

I found the "chatting" people up that Magda does to be downright creepy, but I've been expecting it. It was only a matter of time before personal recommendations were?/are to be bought and sold. Marketing men have been evolving to this long before "Strawberry Shortcake."
Why this sort of thing doesn't proliferate in forums is beyond me. Then again maybe it does and I just naively believe people. Then again, it didn't seem to in the book either.
One thing I would have preferred, and it's just a personal preference, is that F:F:F had been a usenet group instead of being hosted on one site. I can't help it. I just like the anarchical nature of usenet.
