I'm not sure how it can have references to his other works when all his other works have taken place in the future and "Pattern Recognition" takes place in the here and now.

Maybe Thread is wondering if PR will have suggestions of things yet to happen, but already mentioned in the WG canon. Well, unless PR changed drastically between the ARC and going to print, I'd have to say it's self-supporting and leaves the future possibilities wide open. After all, the Soviet Union could reform and cause the WW3 mentioned in Neuromancer ....

I heard that this books was originally rumored to be coming out last July, but that some unknown changes had to be made. I did not know that the book was set in present-day, however.
