I know a The Man when I see one, and you certainly ain't.

You're barging in, out of nowhere, and with your friends from the Times Rich List...

"The Man" status *is* conferred by others. But, really, who cares. I was just asking about what what kind of person lumps together B&R and Wrangler together as cool (along with some kind of Eastman Leather Jacket). I've only ever seen Wrangler on Cowboys (and B&R in Airport Duty Free shops). Don't take it personally.

We were all just so enamored with your "new book" post, that we looked past obvious trolling behavior.

Is oblique name dropping, calling youself cool and being ancient cool this second? I thought that was so last second?

That window incident sure sounded "un-cool".

I am however seriously interested in this Bono thing. Clearly if people are going to buy branded shit then it is a good thing if some of the profit goes to actual good causes. The whole thing makes me queasy, but then Bono always has. I used to think it was his Christianity but it's something more than that. I actually think I'm allergic to him and all his works. Maybe it's the sunglasses?

So you're saying that if they didn't have the numbers, had never had the numbers, and were not, in fact, even manufactured by the "right" manufacturer, as long as the shape and quality were right, they'd be cool? That's pretty reasonable.

On the other hand, I can't say I've ever been moved to exclaim "cool pants!" but, honestly, I don't know cool from a hole in the ground.

Oh yeah, welcome to the board, too. I don't think I said that yet.

Elsewhere I have retreated from my cool position. The whole thing was a product of insomnia, broadband and a computer in the bedroom.
Your analysis of my point about the jeans was spot on.
I will try and be good but can't promise

After some considerable thought I think that if you want to recognise cool then look to Johnny Cash (any period)
