Since we finished the Collaborative PR Audio Book project, I thought I'd start something new here. The Spoken Word Slam - similar to Poetry Slam, but not restricted to poetry.

Here are the rules:

1) Each spoken word performance must be of the performer's own construction

2) Each performer gets three minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to perform. If you go over the time, you are disqualified.

3) Special effects are allowed. The spoken word performance can be in any language.

4) The performance must be saved as an MP3 file and uploaded to the Internet.

The first five qualifying files uploaded participate in Round One. Each WGB member may only participate once per round. A Poll thread will be created, and WGB members will have one week to vote for their favorite spoken word performance. After a one week period, the winners will be announced. There may or may not be prizes for the winners. (Anyone willing to donate a prize?)

I can hardly wait!

Not that I dislike the idea, in principle, but what is its link with "Pattern Recognition - with spoilers"?

Isn't it more like organized random words?

Names. Numbers. Held as though they might be a map, a map back out of the underground.

Ridiculous first entry.

The title is "My Empire."

Thanks for the first entry, Metro.

I haven't listened to it yet. I'm waiting until all the entries are in before I listen.

I might make my own when I've finished my thesis.

No problem, FP. I've got a few more in reserve -- are multiple submissions a no-no?

That "My Empire" piece was very good Metro, and not at all what I expected.

I'd contribute something, but I don't have the software on this computer, and don't have the creativity in this brain.

Wow, completely neglected this thread.

Thank you, colin (he writes, nearly two months later).

There's a slight nod to that popular electronica song "Satisfaction" at the end.
