Yup. Sure am. After posting my marvelous revelation, I did a search on 'rickson' & found >200 posts about the jacket. Does this appalling naivete lock me into junior member karma forever?

Where could one get a Japanese flying jacket? The one I always wanted was the one Christian Bale wore in Empire of the Sun. Coolest jacket ever.

I thought it was an american flight jacket, with a blood chit on its back.

I thought it had Japanese characters all over it? Let me go see...

It seems it may be a Chinese nationalist Jacket which would make more sense.

Maybe the Americans wore them or they were American made? Certainly we were backing The Nationalists.

Flight jackets with blood chits were american made, for the USAF pilots on the CBI theater.

More info about Blood Chits here.

I think that's the kind of jacket you saw in the movie.

That must be the one. I have seen that film a million times. I don't know how I misremembered, must have projected my original impression.

Thanks for the heads up. I may be able to use this in an homage to Bill.
