I'd cast twilight minotaur as Tito, Misty as Hollis, FashPo as Heidi, Electric Dragon as Bobby Chombo, Splitcoil as Brown, Colin as Milgrim

I only *got* (that is to say, formed a mental image of) Hollis Henry at second reading:

Gillian Anderson. With, necessarily, straight, longish, unselfconscious hair.

Just the right touch of brittle incredulity.

Is Hollis supposed to have straight hair? What's wrong with my brain? Why does it always make things totally wrong?

Supposed to? Well, in my imagination, yes. I found she was drawn as someone who gives her physical appearance great casual afterthought. The bit about Inchmale hiring a coach to teach her how to move more dynamically on stage helped put her there in my mind's eye. That, the Mondrian haircut on a whim on someone else's dime, and her lack of sunglasses. Not someone whose looks and physical presentation are at the forefront of her thoughts. More concerned with what she says.

So, for her, straight hair. Simple, undemanding, uncontrived.

Heh. Red Heads.

I kind of pictured Hollis as having some fraction of Chrissie Hynde, in her personality.

Got it. For me, I suppose, the poster at St. Mark's Place and the Anton Corbijn photo were what gave me my picture of Hollis, finally. And for whatever reason, in the Corbijn especially, I see rather thick, wavy hair. Perhaps because his photos tend to be sort of dark and intense.

Sure, i'll give that a go.

Hollis: Gillian Anderson, though maybe someone a bit more long and lean.

Brown: Michael Massee, as seen in TV's 24.

Milgrim: Is giving me a lot of trouble. An older Ryan Gosling maybe?

Heidi/Laura: I want to say Kim Dickens. She has the look of badass turned respectable. Whoever said Debbie Harry a while back was on to something, but of course she's too old.

Inchmale: David Thewlis.

Old Man: Scott Glenn. Who, as it happens, just played the CIA director in The Bourne Ultimatum

Bigend: Walton Goggins. Tell the man to hit the gym maybe and give him a rug. Clearly has too many teeth.

Tito: Where are all the young good looking multi-ethnic actors, Hollywood? I ask you. I got nothing.

Brotherman: Marcus Chong? We don't really want tank, probably.

One of the cousins:Cedric Bixler-Zavala

Most people donot care about ages, and here we have a mostly middle age one... Rather than unknowns, I would go with former stars and foreigners...

For the Old Man I would want a faded star, one that people would trust implicitly. So I would pick either Robert Redford or Paul Newman. The right age would be probably between them, so I may have to settle for Redford.

For Milgrim I would pick Gary Oldman. Being there, done that. If you think that he chews the scenery too much, William Fichtner has that controls and intensity down pat.

Tito? An unknown from the Peking Opera. One that can do his own stunts, and moves with that unconscious grace.

We all have different images from Hollis. I agree with Chrissie Hinde, but as she is no actress, I would pick Jamie Lee Curtis (I see the Curfew more like late forties, early fifties). Short hair becomes her, as well.

He is quite big now with House, but Hugh Laurie would be an excellent Inchmale. And he is British.

Heidi, since I saw her name, was Linda Hamilton for me.

Brown needs a mix of cunning and obedience, so, as Michael Ironside is getting too old, I would pick Tom Sizemore.

Garreth would have to be an unknown hunk, but attractive.

The hardest one, of course, is Bigend (Odile? an unknown French actress. Pamela, idem with a British one). That mix of boredom and passion (with the right age and old worldness) I find in Mads Mikkelsen, though he may be type cast for the US audience after the last Bond.

Names. Numbers. Held as though they might be a map, a map back out of the underground.

Odile? Ludivine Sagnier. If she was older, she could also be a contender of Hollis.

Ben Kinglsey could be the Old Man, or Milgrim for what it's worth.

Hollis, Julie Delpy?

I saw Odile Richard as a round-eyed innnocent; Someone for whom the art world is the world. Someone...perky. Hordes of them at any given vernissage here in town. (I go to a few, every winter.)

But this chick looks like she came out of Keith Richards's ass.

Now, that's Hollis Henry, as my mind drew her with Mr. Gibson's charcoal.

But she would be playing herself. That''s different. She might pull off a miracle like Dexter Gordon did long ago playing a fictional composite of Lester Brown and Bud Powell in Round Midnight ('89, I think).
