Someone, maybe you?, suggested that he was purposefully self-referecning his own existence as author in the text.

But declaratively or simply as a writing process?

See the difference?

One crosses the 4th wall (I think it's called).

The other is just standard authorial solipsism: you really ARE the complete God of a novel (unless it's ghostwritten by literary demiurges).

All according to him, but doubting an author's declarations about his own work is too post-modern for me.
Oh, right, I forgot it was well liked by Guy Debord.

Gustave, are you saying thatGibson created Big's mama as a Situationist because of the book?

Because I think Psychophant is right with the timeline he presented as I recall.

Most likely the exact opposite - I suppose he was thrilled to come across it, and if he indeed had already drawn the Situationist thread, the arrival of the book was a coincidence too delightful to keep to himself.

Perhaps Milgrim is merely a vehicle for the book meme.

Milgrim is more likely a vehicle for the anti-neo-con meme as per the book's actual functionary roles.

Milgrim is product placement for Heironymous Bosch.

I suppose he acts as a foil to Brown. But generally: book + function = projectile. ;-)

If he is a bullet drawn at the reader he is one diffused behind layers of practiced and chemically buffered apathy.
