Question. Who exactly owns the rights to Neuromancer because I just found the original trade marks and its states that they were never renewed as of 2001. This information would be helpful to me since I'm sort of using the IP without permission for a non-for-profit game and I do want to avoid getting my ass kicked by lawyers. Further more the trade mark also covers adaptations.

It has the original Trade Mark forms attached to it with Gibson's Signature. I'm guessing it is official since its coming from the US patent office.

Any info would be hot since I'd very much like to finish this game without any interruption.

You should contact Martha Millard, Gibson's agent (who doesn't accept queries, dammit) and find out what the rights situation is.

As for overall rights to the text, those automatically are his for 50 years I believe.

Thanks underdog, thats very helpful.

If at all possible would a written query work? I take it all people in the literature world are technophobic. I do know someone that can solicit a legitimate inquiry as to the rights of Neuromancer, we've been talking about it with regards to Interplay, but as far as I know they don't have any rights established.
