I also like Tim Roth as Case:

After my wife read Neuromancer, I asked her "the casting question," and she suggested Gina Gershon as Molly. I'm starting to agree.

It would be nice if young mr. Case was played by someone of appropriate years.

While Mr. G might work for Dixie, I somehow think he would really not like that idea.
Molly I first pictured as a tight little firecracking Chinese or Japanese girl with razor straight sheeny waving black hair. Like what they did with Milla Jovovich in Ultra Violet, but more compact and without the crap film. Someone who might star in something from Masamune Shirow. That image made less sense later, though it remains. |

I got the idea after listening to an MP3 of WG reading Neuromancer. When he read Dix, he came off sounding calm, like some old burned out stoner who had already accepted what he was. When I first read Neuromancer, I always kinda thought Dix was somewhat jovial. You know, that laugh? And tho Gary Oldman is now too old for Case, he could make a good Finn too. He has that ability to be both charming and sinister which is how I imagined him to be. I'd also be willing to give that kid who plays Peter on Heroes a shot at Case. Might be a little too . . . "teen angst" tho. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Clark Nova, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ an exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation |

from what i recall, riviera was very pretty. i like matthew lillard, but he's more like little bird. i think someone along the lines of damon albarn needs to do riviera.

You know on one of my previous cast lists in the past I had Matthew Lillard listed as Little Bird.
Ideally I would put Edward Norton as Rivera, he would also not fall in the not pretty enough category. Tobey Maguire could also make a good Rivera, but it could end up as spider man throwing holograms around. I used to have him as Bobby Zero but he in now to old for that part. Elijah Wood also has the "pretty" factor but it would be Fordo throwing holograms around. Currently for the most part when I make theses lists I try to go for lesser known actors so it does not become the new Actor(insert super star actor name here) movie. Much like how the Lord of the Rings where made where they had a large cast of pretty decent actors that people may have seen in the past but where for the most part still B/C list actors. Or actors that do not drag their former often iconic roles around with them like Elijah Wood/Fordo. |

Whoa, supercide - good call with Eliza Dushku. She definitely has the voice for the role, too - and some martial art stuntwork to boot.
Shame to cover up those big beautiful eyes, however. |

Eliza looks the part, but every role i've ever seen her play it's the same character just different names, and that character she plays is always annoying.
What about Jessica Beal? (Biel?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ an exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation |

Bill Bailey for Julie
Dylan Moran for Case Jack Black for Finn. Peter Serafinowitz for Riviera And I used to think Natalie Portman for Molly, but since thinking about Dylan Moran, I'd be inclined to suggested Tamsin Greig. ---------------------------------- "A million monkeys were given a million typewriters; it's called the internet" Simon Munnary |

Those aren't bad... apart from Jack Black. He'd pull one out of the film. |

Not sure if I'd buy Tamsin Greig as Molly. I'd be waiting for her to walk into something and then start stammering out an apology... -------------------------- A titanium wren never sings. |

I reckon this is the best Neuromancer cast I've come across. I think Iggy Pop would be great as the Finn - he's got a suitably 'lived-in' look. Eliza D is perfect for Molly. Look at that pic, you can just see her saying "Shit, I'm an avid cyclist...". Dolph would be okay for a 'not quite a personality' like Armitage, and he has the ex-military look down pat. Matthew Ferguson has one thing going for him as Case - he looks young. But in that pic he's too neat and well-groomed. Cute, even. Case is over the edge, twitchy, desperate. Matthew looks as though the strongest thing he'd put in his system is chamomile tea. Still he's an actor, so dirty him up a bit and I think he'd do the job well. I don't know John Lone, but if he's calm, athletic and graceful he'd be fine for Hideo. And I don't know Matthew Lillard either, but there's something about that picture that puts him fairly close to my mental image of Riviera. he'd have to get rid of the smile, though... But that's a great job of casting! ----------------------------- "It may be said with rough accuracy that there are three stages in the life of a strong people. First, it is a small power, and fights small powers. Then it is a great power, and fights great powers. Then it is a great power, and fights small powers, but pretends that they are great powers, in order to rekindle the ashes of its ancient emotion and vanity. After that, the next step is to become a small power itself." --GK Chesterton, "Heretics" |

riviera, for me, has always been Leonardo DiCaprio.
i think Cillian Murphy could do a very good job as Case. and Harry Dean Stanton as the Finn is pure genius, boog. i've never thought of Natalie Portman for Molly, but i think it would work. Matthew Lilliard couldn't do Riviera for me AT ALL. too goofy. _________________________ we're starstruck kids in time machines, trying to find a place to be - Twilite Minotaur shine like the sun glow like the moon no maps for these places |

I like your taste, Green!
And you picked very good pictures to make your case. And yeah, I've only seen Lilliard be goofy. |
