It's not the special effects that would be hard. Come one: we live in the Digital Age(t). It's the internal dialogue that goes on in Case's head, much of it not directly written but ghostily implied by the context-text.

Not that it can't be done, but to satisfy most of us, a director would have to make this a central pivot of his approach.

Blade Runner worked largely because it achieved this (and in so doing, told a greatly altered story).

I hope you don't mean the Blade Runner original with the voice over.

And hard core Michael Bay with his rumbling guns and explosions made...Meatloaf videos, as well as...The Divinyls "I Touch Myself." Those of you in the music video business know the score and understand why this is.
I don't know Kahn, I don't care if he directs it or not. But anyone who uses Michael bay as an argument for artistic integrity has got to lacking some of the aforementioned.

There was voice over, yeah. I have to see the uncut diamond. I'm slow. I like to let pop culture move around me while I study my fetishes.

In fact, the original was the one that made Gib so despondent because he felt that Ridley had totally beat him to the punch of this novel he was working on called Neuromancer.

Yeah. I liked the original but seeing the new one... you know... just really a better film.

I'm actually backwards - I own the director's cut, and I'm trying to track down the original. Because I'm a sucker for voiceovers.

Yeah. That happened to me, once.

It did have the more raymond Chandler direct experience I suppose.

I don't really have an opinion of this guy as a director, but what concerns me most is how he talks about how hard it was to make Torque with all the pressure from the studio and whatnot. That points more to him having less of a spine than having any integrity. What do you think he'll do when the studio says they want Ashlee Simpson to play molly?

Well, context: we're still waiting for a *first one* of Neuromancer. And at the time, Blade Runner was it.

It got lost in the shuffle and had to build as a cult item instead, but those who saw it and knew what was up...

Not that I was one of 'em. BUt I remember the time. And seeing it even 10 years later, or again just recently, I can see why my old fogey confreres were so awestruck by the *feel* of the thing.

Can't wait to listen in on the Cid Mead commentary Big Grin I mean most of the extras in the Ultimate Edition are based around the Aesthetic and the original Novel, but I mean you get 5 versions of the film so I think that pretty much explains everything they did to it (plus it has commentaries on each I think.. or is it just the Final and Working cuts?)

But yeah its interesting because we need to learn about the process it took to invent the style so that eventually we can take it to the next level.. without falling into the contemporary Post-Cyberpunk. (because we need to evolve them both separately instead of merging them together)

Has anyone got an IMDb Pro account they can use to snoop in on the production details for us?

I don't, but I've been seeing increasing evidence on the web that this project continues to move forward.

This may have popped up here before, I gather this has been around for some time, but its a very cool concept art presentation someone had posted on Youtube based on Neuromancer. I guess it was something a german student did for his final art project a few years ago. Hopefully someone on the Neuromancer movie project sees this and hires this kid to help work on the movie, I think his concepts are pretty spot on.

Holy damn. That kid is really, really good. I can only hope I get to that level of visualization. If he used the program I think he did (Corel Painter), I need to get started on using it as well.

That one Hollywood shot of Molly looked dead perfect to me, though I always imagined the eyes bigger. But the coffin hotel? That's exactly what I imagined.
