All this time, due partly to the same mistake being made by the idiots who decide on cover art, I've been thinking that the Bridge in Virtual Light etc. was The Golden Gate.

Now WG, actually makes it pretty clear that it isn't, and there are a number of clues I ought to have picked up on, like its name, where it went to and from, and Treasure Island.

i did that. realized my mistake the first time i actually crossed the oakland bay bridge. the golden gate seems tiny in comparison.

That's assuming you know something about the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. At first I thought it was the Golden Gate as well. Later, I knew it was the Bay bridge because WG had mentioned it, but I had no firm image. Only after I actually went to SF and saw the thing did it finally firm up.

Right. When i started the series I pictured the Golden Gate, too. Then somebody went to the lower level and I realized it had to be the OB.

I had no idea! Even worse: I always thought the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge were just different names for the same bridge.

Damn. I'm an ignorant European hick.
