There is a lame arse tech demo on my Moddb profile, you can use the links at the top of the homepage www.neuromancer.moddb.com
Screenshot wise the only thing I've got at the moment is either the starting of Molly or the concept art for Chiba City.. which is presently incomplete.. most of the past few months have been allocated to mostly the game design side of things. But rest assured that come the time I get my new "tools" (Engine and a new professional tablet) then should be making some massive progress. Martin our composer has been working on the music and it sounds amazing but It needs a lot of work still. I'm thinking about a Tech Demo 2 to test the multi platform abilities, most likely it'll feature a small part of Chiba City and a very basic Cyberspace.. thats un-offical.. its just in my head Once I get that tablet I'll try to get as much of the cast done as possible.. Most importantly Case, Molly, Armitage and Ratz. (as they all feature in Chiba City Blues) I'm working on the game in Chapters according to the book, this way the milestones are easier to manage. |

click away. Um also just a quick note that this was Neuromancer 2007 which was just a right out Remake of Neuromancer.. I've since changed to game to instead be an entire adaptation of the novel using the game's original gameplay designs, I got a lot of complaints that I wasn't doing enough to stay true to the novel by just doing a remake. When I heard the Kahn rumor this made me take it a step further. Now my hopes are to give hollywood a run for its money :P (if its possible I hope) |

According to the ever-reliable IMDb, Neuromancer is now in pre-production..

Gibson's silence on the topic, sadly, suggests to me that the film is proceeding ahead.
I think it's a case, no pun intended, of: "If you can't say something nice..." But something being in pre-prod on IMDB means nothing. If you have IMDB pro access I think you can mod those things under a certain user account profile. The fact that this movie has, like, no "buzz" does not bode well for its success though. If I was sufficiently wealthy, I'd pay Seven Arts not to make the picture and buy the rights back from them. Or just buy the damn company, it doesn't look like it's worth all that much. This thread is largely resposible for me seeing Riviera in my head as Hayden Christiansen. Which worked, largely because in my head his voice was less annoying and he could act. All he needed was his remarkable innate ability to sneer. Which he's got.

I can totally see him as Riviera. As Case? Absolutely not.

First off no way in hell would Gibson be working with Kahn I'm positive about that. (As established he already had his choice of Director which didn't take off) Secondly Gibson's silence I'm suspecting he is playing down the hype.. suggesting that he either wants the film to die and go away or wants to see where Kahn goes with it (which we are all dreading because it won't turn out good). My biggest issue with Kahn is that he's nothing more than a Film School student that turned into a blade runner fanboi and then discovered something called Cyberpunk and decided to base his career on it because its popular and topical.. /epic fail |

Novelists ( and screenwriters) don't often choose who they want to work with or not as regards a film.
Gibson may or may not even be asked to work on the script, to visit the set. But even if he is, he will likely have next to zero contorl over it. His preference for director is abot as meaningful as ours is collectively. Once the property is sold it becomes someone else's baby unless there are contract stipulations to the contrary and/or the producer/director of the film get the novelist on board by invitation which largely works out to be a courtesy with little meaningful input. If Gibson has preferences for the film, his best hope it that the rights revert to him which seems increasingly unlikely. |

Having trhe film rights, likely has nothing to do with the game rights, unless Gibson resells those. I am guessing they reverted to him at some point after the 1989 game.
But, for a big budget sci-fi film, a games studio may very well do a tie in. I have about as much confidence in that development. |

Juper is coming out on Thursday. The success or failure of this film may go some way toward proving Christensen's ability to carry an action sci-fi film.
Bug numbers may expedite Neuromancer. If you don't want the film to get off the ground, I recommend skipping this film. |

Bug numbers indeed.
33.9 Million. Shit. From Reuters "Jumper," directed by Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity"), cost in the $80-million range to make, said Fox. About two-thirds of the audience was male moviegoers under 25, according to first-day polling data supplied by the News Corp-owned studio. The film was based on Steven Gould's young-adult sci-fi novels "Jumper" and "Reflex." Bugfuck, that's the exact market they'll want for Neuro. |

Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) said it sucked.

All the critics say it sucked, but that' doesn't mean anything when the film opens at number one. This will bolster the Neuro film. It's possible that Christensen hasn't signed and will now (certainly) demand more money which they refuse to pay, but that's the only way this box office would help. |

Hi all,
I think Hayden Chritensen is ok, if not the best actor to play Case. But to me, the director is far more important than the actor. I believe even a 'not so good' actor can shine thanks to a great director and a great screenplay. So, with this in mind I'm not concerned about Christensen that much, but I am very concerned about the director. I would love to see Neuromancer directed by one of such, Alex Proyas, The Wachowsky Brothers, Ridley Scott and maybe James Cameron. One of'em would be great. I also think it must be a big budget movie of course. But in the other hand, big budget Hollywood movies turns out to be 'Soon to be forgotten' movies nowadays, if not always. I would like this movie to be a mile stone, like Matrix, Alien or Blade Runner or whatever. Because as a novel it was and still is, so as a movie it should be too. It's all about atmosphere at first. The atmosphere has to be absolutely great. Blade Runner, Terminator, Alien, Matrix. Those movies have great atmosphere in it that pulls the watcher in to it. Johnny Mnemonic wasn't a very good movie, but its atmosphere was good, even if it wasn't a great movie in terms of production or budget or whatever, it did convey that cyberpunk atmosphere very well, at least it worked for me. Anyways, this is a long post considering it is my first. All I want to say is that I got very excited when I saw IMDB saying Neuromancer was in post-production but I certainly had a deep dissappointment as I read the directors name. I still hope that this will change but I'm not giving too much chance to my hope though. Let's see what happens, hope it turns out great. Best. ---------------------- The story has begun... |
