I live in the Boston area, and the Irish here are pissed. Caught between Ireland and New York, they probably have good reason to fear they'll be next.

I'm in Thailand with a couple of Irish friends (must stop doing Irish jokes, they don't get them). Their view is "Every feckin American thinks he's Irish" (Overheard in the bar this morning from an American "Do they have pancakes in Denmark?")

Meanwhile, in the Bangkok Post an American wrote a letter complaining that the no-smoking law for air-conditioned buildings here is never enforced. A reader responded by basically saying - fuck off back to California, we'll start obeying laws when politicians and the police are less corrupt" - which I thought was a refreshing reply.
