They also call it "softening".
I wonder what John Wayne Gacy called it? History is the excavation of graves--essential work, if one is to understand the graves that await us in the future. |

Oh, for f**k's sake! Why are people so bloody afraid of admitting they are animals? You don't even have to give up thinking you are the precious pinnacle of God's plan, people, just the idea that he popped you into the universe fully formed like some cheap magic trick. Gah. |

You have to remember that we believed that Tony Blair had anything to do with the Labour Movemnt not believing in evolution is a minor mistake compared to that Speak softly and carry a big Sig |

Once, in a Third World country, I met their most educated pharmacist, western doctorates and everything and he argued creationism. I'm afraid that in a Faith based culture 2 + 2 don't necessarily make 4.

Yeah, everyone frets about fundamentalist Islam, but in the Third World, fundamentalist Christianity is way out in front.

Who mentioned Islam. My point was about faith based culture, the particular brand of Ibrahamic insanity is unimportant.
The Angel Gabriel approached God saying "Those followers of Abraham are getting out of control. First Abraham starts a Temple based on Obedience then some of his people disagree and start their own crew based on Faith and they start killing each other, Then another lot disagree and say that the answer is Submission and everyone starts killing everyone else." God says "Don't worry sooner or later they'll come back to Mother!" Speak softly and carry a big Sig |

True, but then, the US is like a Third World country in some areas. »» "Forget infinity. I've got books waiting for me to read them." — colin »»"Speculative novels of last Tuesday." — William Gibson |

I could also have said "world-wide", it's just that the growthspurt is in Africa and South and Central America - but then we're definitely having arithmatic problems here in the states too.
Nice summation! This message has been edited. Last edited by: the_Etruscan, History is the excavation of graves--essential work, if one is to understand the graves that await us in the future. |

Not to mention our education has been enriched in the use of jets by the average guy.
Truly though, as often as humans become self-righteous about faith and its expression in culture, we can become unhinged as a species on most any subject at hand. I have a neighbor who still holds a grudge about a tip I gave him regarding firewood. Must have been fifteen years or more ago I directed him to what he considered a substandard fir log on the beach. He remembers it to this day. Not off topic when you consider that we have a capacity to as humans to take the simplest things personally. It's God who takes it personally, not me.

Is it possible the pilot was trying to stear clear of an even more densely populated area, and that's why they stayed with the aircraft until it was too late to safely eject? But then, why eject at all if it's too late? It really does sound like incompetence, at this point. Please post it if you learn more. Because the odds of surviving after ejecting are higher than if you stay in a exploding crashed plane? _____________________________ Albert's path is a strange and difficult one. |

I don't know what speed he was going, but at those sort of speeds 1/2 second can make all the difference when ejecting.
I flew a BAE Hawk in 1986 (not a Red Arrows one). I did it as an ATC cadet. I was the 3rd best Sergeant (there were only 3, the best sergeant was asthmatic, the 2nd best was too small for the flight/G-suit). A 40 minute flight from RAF Chivenor down to Exeter, touchdown and off again (that's when the G-suit first inflated), barrel rolls and a loop, then chasing 2 other Hawks on a training exercise while we waited for a slot to land. 40 minutes was probably about all my stomach could take though. |
