I think Splitters is implying that, at some point you will cross an event horizon of cynicism and resentment, and will spontaneously collapse into a singularity so dense not even happy thoughts can escape.

The Krayola Krew is at it again....

"you should be ashamed of yourselves for
broadcasting the report on the CIA
covert action against IRAN. The key
word here is SECRET. The report should
be considered traitorous".

He must be out of Thorazine again...

Professor Peter Piper... I wouldn't want to have to read his lab reports out. "Professor Peter Piper picked up a pipette of prepared Pepsi."

That whole tongue twister thing only becomes an issue after the Parkinson's sets in.

Shopkeeper: Take this object, but beware, it carries a terrible curse!
Homer: Oohh, that's bad.
S: But it comes with a free frogurt!
H: That's good.
S: The Frogurt is also cursed.
H: That's Bad.
S: But you get your choice of topping.
H: That's good.
S: The toppings contain potassium sodium benzoate.
H: .......
S: That's bad.
H: Can I go now?

After reading about E211, I think I'll stick with my organic food thanks!

I'm a bit confused how this sort of thing wasn't spotted in trials before it was licensed. (I'll read about it when my New Scientist arrives :P).

PS Regarding 'Organic' - in the UK we have the Soil Association, which has very stringent requirements before they allow a company to use their logo.

PPS Regarding the CIA operation article, the replies are making me cry. People don't seem to have a grip on reality: What sort of news-media are they being exposed to?! Also the article doesn't say anything Iran wouldn't already know.

I think I'll stick with my Guardian and BBC Smile

Two words:

"Drift" and "Spray."

Not necessarily in that order.

We don't have farms on the same scale as Oz, we don't tend to spray at that level. If a non-organic substance ends up on Soil Association certificated land the sprayer has to pay to get it removed. As you can imagine that's prohibitively expensive, so they try their hardest not to allow anything to drift.

But... but... it preserves freshness! How can something that preserves freshness be bad for you? Shouldn't my internal organs be fresher?
