15 dollars per inhabitant per year. 0.5% of the gross.

Quite a lot, but 100 times less per inhabitant than the true US client states.

Macedonia is unusual in the Balkans in that the USAID amount is similar to the EBRD amount, rather than inferior.

The EBRD has given (and usually three times as much as syndicated loans) 35 million euro (over 45 million USD) in 2006, and over 280 million euro (365 million USD) since 2002.

I would say that the EU's carrot is bigger.

Everything is relative, of course. It is a lot of money if someone would be so kind to give it to me. It is nothing compared to the military aid some countries receive. It would pay for 4 hours of military operations in Iraq...
