TMobile won the German iPhone lawsuit.

Frown

For the first time ever, a product is sold with a life long binding to one single service providor.

If this is ruled okay, what stops other manufacturer to do the same?

If Apple is getting 40% revenue from TMobile, wouldn't it be foolish from Nokia to not try the same?

Will Dell PC in the future only work with one single ISP?

What stops an ISP to block access to google, msn and skype becasue it made an exclusive deal with Yahoo?

I know, that are extrem examples. But, you get the picture.

Not happy, not consumer friendly at all.

I SO agree. wiki's good AND provides something approaching real-time peer review. That's about as good as it gets.

I just heard about that.

It's strange, how people are immediately trying to link the attack to Sarkozy...

Could be something as simple as someone not liking lawyers.

Nine dead in Nebraska mall shooting

quote:
: A 19-year-old man killed eight people and then himself with an assault rifle at a busy mall in Omaha on Wednesday, sending terrified workers and Christmas shoppers scrambling for cover.

"Now I will be famous," the gunman wrote in a suicide note, his landlady told CNN after finding a three-part document that she said included his will.

Police declined to discuss the contents of the note.

Another nobody, apparently. Kicked out by his family, just lost his job at McDonald's and broke up with his girlfriend. These people don't realize that to be famous by killing people, you have to kill someone famous. We still remember John Wilkes Booth. This guy will be forgotten next week, except by the bereaved.

Assuming that you're defining "peer" as anyone with an internet connection, and review as "whoever gets in the last edit," I suppose so.

Reality is a "consensual hallucination."

Perhaps they might not warrant use in scientific papers, but Wiki has value for the softer sciences.

Though drawing the line there seems arbitrary to some degree.

Libya's Gaddafi to visit France (BBC)
quote:

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is due to arrive in France for a five-day official visit, his first since 1973.

He arrived this morning.

People have been criticizing Sarkozy over this topic (among others) all week.

One of my sarkozista coworkers says :
"Well, at least if we're freind with him, he won't drop planes on the Eiffel tower".

That is just sick.
Inviting him is a pretext to ensure oil deals, and arms sales.

I remember this one, I was getting the newspapers ready to put out for the patrons and I notice one of the blurbs in the corner.

"Fired by Macdonalds : teen turns to mass murder."

I laughed my arse off, made a generic comment about Americans and got back to work.

Famous. Meh.

More Balkan fun:

Today the international community's deadline for the final attempt to hammer out a negotiated solution to the problem of Kosovo's future expired. The international "troika" overseeing talks between Kosovo Albanians, who want independence from Belgrade as soon as possible, and Serbs, who are only willing to grant a greater degree of autonomy, delivered their report on the talks' failure to the U.N. Security Council. The breakdown has raised fears of renewal of violence in the region. But while tensions are indeed rising, there are sound reasons why the worst case scenarios — including new conflict in the Balkans — probably will not be realized.

Getting better and better :

Yesterday, Sarkozy settled a billion-euros weapon sales with Libya.
And now, he's going to boast that he fixed the French economy.

Fuck.
This is making me sick.
