What's the surprise? Osama is Saudi, an important parcel of Al Qaida people and financial support is Saudi, Taliban was supported by Al Qaida and the brother of the president deals with heroine. Just an action among friends...

While many people think of the UK as a bit of a Big Brother state due to the ubiquitous CCTV cameras, they don't really bother me. But, although it wouldn't affect me anyway, this seems a step too far.

This just in over the mojo wire: Forrest J. Ackerman, SF ur-fan and publisher, has suffered a massive heart attack, is hospitalized and is not expected to survive. It's hard to imagine the sf field without Forry around. He attended the first Worldcon in NYC in 1939. His Famous Monsters magazine was among my favorite reading when I was a kid. He was one of a kind.
