Obama's speech is all over everything, so here it is on the WGB too

All you can say is WHAT happened. You do not know why. You will never know why.

He gave a complex answer to a complex question. No wonder the media get it wrong.

I was shocked, shocked, to find out a candidate was allowed to write their own speech. What's next? They're going to be held accountable for all the bullshit promises they make during their campaign?

Sick, sad world.

JFK wrote his own speeches, I think.

Lecturer of mine once showed me a JFK speech card, and a Ronnie Reagan one.

JFK's were handwritten notes, with stuff scrawled in the margins ("Say something about what you can do for the US). Ron's were printed on 3x5 cards, double-spaced, in a largish font and even showed when he should pause.

Might be an urban legend, but it's a good'un.

Well....Ronnie was an actor, playing the part of a leader.

What he needed was a teleprompter. Big Grin

He's only mentioned the similarities between FDR and himself a few thousand times.
The road was started for him by his daddy, and paved with the patriot acts.

I have said from the day he was inaugurated that he would try and pull precisely that off.

All he would need is a big explosion he could point to and say: "See, them terrists is up to no good. Imma hafta postpone the rigged election 'til 2012.

Shop as usual, and avoid panic buying."

Every time I browse past the title for this thread I mis-read it as "Obama on Ice"... a flurry of bad-TV ice-skating event mental images ensues.

Just thought you would like to know that. This is not a hijacking. Smile

And for all his press conferences to be adapted by John Milius. Smile

Reading, meanwhile, is an activity subsequent to writing - more resigned, more civil, more intellectual.
